Valve have just announced the release of a massive new update to Counter-Strike 2.
Coming with the great joke comment of "banana for scale", the update features some changes to both Inferno and Train as well as a whole bunch of new cases and skin collections.
With five cases and collections and all those map changes to go through, let's get into it.
The patch notes describe the changes to the two maps as a little bit of "Spring cleaning." Valve says that we should notice "cleaner surfaces, less clutter, and a slightly wider banana."
With that said, the biggest change is that Banana has been made wider, which brings it closer to the size of Banana we knew and loved in CS:GO.
A change that could impact how CTs defend the incredibly important position, we'll have to see how it affects the meta in the coming months.
The rest of the changes to the two maps are mostly visual, so don't expect for them to shake up the gameplay, but they should help you find more frags.
The full list of patch notes for both maps are as follows:
Inferno
Train
The Armory is one of the biggest cosmetic updates in CS2 to date, and the new Spring Forward update brings a whole load of new content to it.
First up is the Fever Case, which brings 17 new weapon finishes to Counter-Strike 2.
The highlight of these new skins is undoubtedly the AWP Printstream, which is an incredibly long-awaited skin in Counter-Strike. It's sure to become one of the most expensive AWP skins, and yes, someone has already gotten their hands on one.
We also like the look of the FAMAS Bad Trip, which could see huge popularity thanks to the recent FAMAS buff as part of the Premier Season 2 update.
The Fever Case in CS2 also sees the addition of Chroma finishes for the knives from the Shattered Web cases, so you might need to re-think your options if you're trying to discover the best knife skins in CS2.
The knifes that have received the new skins are:
Alongside the new Fever Case, we have the 2025 Train Collection. A much-needed addition after Train returned to the Counter-Strike map pool, now you'll have some nice skins to go along with your CS2 Train smokes.
You might still need to learn how to play Train in CS2, but you don't need to know how to play the map at all to get usage out of these skins.
There's a bunch of cool skins in the 2025 Train Collection, including the latest Whiteout skin, which is available for the Tec-9.
There's also a new Zeus skin, called Charged Up, which looks like a warning sign, as well as the M4A4 Hellish, which we think looks like a friendly version of the M4A4 Hellfire.
However, the highlight is the AWP LongDog. A skin that feels incredibly unique to the new version of Train, the AWP LongDog celebrates the history of the most iconic spot on an incredibly historic map.
Finally, The Armory has also seen a new Limited Edition item added to it, the XM1014 Solitude.
The XM1014 Solitude features designs that depict mountain ranges, but which mountain range you can get from skin to skin.
You can see one of the variations below.
Completing the Spring Forward update to CS2 we have the new collections that have been added to the weekly drop rotations. The new collections are named Radiant, Boreal, and Ascent.
In the patch notes, Valve has the following to say:
"Your weekly care packages just got a bit more interesting. Three new weapon collections have been added to the care package drop list, so keep an eye out for items from the all-new Ascent, Boreal, and Radiant collections. With over 70 new finishes, these collections feature a wide range of styles from solid colors, gold reliefs, camo patterns, custom paint jobs and more."
Let's start by taking a look at Ascent.
The CS2 Ascent Collection features a collection of blue skins and purple skins, some of which you can see below in their teaser image.
From this collection, we really like the look of the AK-47 Midnight Laminate, the FAMAS Yeti Camo, and the M4A1-S Strasophere.
Next up we have the CS2 Boreal Collection. Where the Ascent Collection focused on blue and purple skins, the Boreal Collection is all about green CS2 skins.
There's a great USP-S skin in this collection, the USP-S Tropical Breeze, but we also think that the AWP Green Energy is fantastic.
Finally, we have the Radiant Collection. We've had green skins and blue skins, so you may have guessed by now that the Radiant Collection is all about red CS2 skins.
The Radiant Collection features a great new M4A1-S skin in the M4A1-S Rose Hex, but our favourite is by far the AK-47 Nouveau Rouge.
