Train is here and it is an incredibly welcome addition to the Counter-Strike 2 map pool.
Replacing Vertigo, players are now figuring out how to play Train in CS2, and includes things like smokes and other nade lineups.
With smokes being one of the most important aspect of learning a map, in this guide, we'll take you through every smoke you need to know on Train in CS2.
Thankfully, there aren't too many to learn, Train can be mastered with just five smokes, and those smokes are:
We do also have a bonus smoke, one that can help you after you've planted the bomb rather than before, but we'll get to that later.
The first smoke you will need on Train in CS2 is the A cross smoke, a smoke that is integral to ever making it out of A Main without being AWPed from a million different angles.
Formerly known as the Sandwich smoke in CS:GO, the A cross smoke doesn't offer as much freedom of movement in CS2 as in the old game, but it is still exceptional in helping to take space on the A site.
The steps to throw the A cross smoke are simple, and it can be done alongside the Connector smoke and Ivy smoke in order to create a successful A rush strategy or as an execute later on in a round.
When it comes to how to throw the A cross smoke on Train in CS2, start by lining up with this corner going out of T Spawn.
When you're in the corner, look up at the chicken on the wall as shown below.
Hold in your Mouse1 button until the smoke crosshair appears. When it does, lineup the crosshair with the chicken as shown. The throw the A cross smoke on Train in CS2, you will then need to jump throw.
If it lands correctly, it should look like this.
Next up we have one of the most important lineups on Train in CS2, the Ivy smoke.
Ivy is an incredibly powerful position, one which will always be guarded by at least one CT player. By smoking it off, not only do you cut off strong AWP angles, you also divide up the defending players.
To throw the Ivy smoke, first lineup with this bollard in T spawn by pushing yourself into the right side of it.
Then, turn around and look up at these cans next to the railings on top of this building. Once you have found them, jump throw to throw the smoke.
If it lands correctly, it will lands like this.
The next smoke we will look at on Train in CS2 is the Popdog smoke.
Due to changes to Popdog in CS2, the position is now harder to take and more important as a secondary connector between the two bombsites.
This smoke can be used early on in rounds to deny the CTs their ability to fight for the position, or later on in rounds to push them out of it.
To throw the Popdog smoke, you will first need to jump on the corner of this green bin in T Spawn.
When you are on top of it, look up to the white eye on the dog on the wall in front of you.
Just as with the A cross smoke, hold in your left-click until the smoke crosshair appears and align it as show in the photo below. Then, release your left-click.
If you have thrown it correctly, it will land like this.
The final smoke for A on Train we will look at in this guide is the Connector smoke.
Good at giving cover to players coming out of both Popdog and A Main, it can be combined with the other smokes to form an effective rush.
To throw the smoke, first push yourself into this corner beside the green train and the train moving behind it.
Then turn around and look at the bracket on the pipes shown below.
Hold in your left-click until the crosshair appears and line it up as shown. To throw the smoke, perform a jump-throw.
If it lands correctly, it will land like this.
Given that Train has been out of the map pool for some time, it's reasonable to expect that some of you reading this guide may never have played Train before.
If that is the case, then this simple smoke is one that requires no real lineup and can be key for you winning rounds in dire situations.
Capable of being thrown very quickly, the B ramp smoke on Train in CS2 is a very powerful smoke that is an absolute must for taking the B site.
All you have to do is stand anywhere at the top of B ramp and throw it down the ramp, either just with a simple left-click or with a step if you want it to go slightly further
If thrown correctly, it will land like this, blocking off vision from behind the train and Connector.
However, due to changes to CS2, you will need to watch out fro HE grenades blowing it open.
The last smoke we have to look at is one that can be thrown when the bomb is already planted.
The smoke in question is thrown from Default on B Site and will land in Connector. This will slow down CTs rotating in, as well as cutting off the angle from Connector to the Bomb Train position.
Slowing down the rotates is especially important, as it allows the Ts to push up and gain the necessary space in order to hold the bombsite in the post-plant.
When in the Default position, look up at the wall as shown. The spot on the wall is a slightly different colour from the rest of the wall. Throw the smoke normally.
If it lands correctly, it will look like this.
Now you know every smoke you need to know on Train in CS2, you can go out and become Global Elite on the map.
