Counter-Strike 2 is finally here, and we couldn't be more excited about it... well, except for one thing: New (old?) smoke lineups.
We've spent the last ten years of CS:GO learning countless smoke lineups for taking map control and having the best executes, and now we're going to have to do it all over again with new smoke lineups galore.
Knowing the best smoke lineups will be paramount to your success in CS2, so allow us to help you learn them with this one-stop shop for every Mirage smoke you need to know.
While there will be countless variations of these smokes and countless more you can throw for endless gimmicks, here are the best smokes on Mirage in CS2.
Let's face it, we can split these smokes into three categories because there are only three things you'll ever do on Mirage anyway: 'Rush B', 'Smokes A', or 'Go Mid'.
Age-old calls that will see you through your pugs until the end of time.
Working left to right out of spawn, let's start with the best A smokes on Mirage in CS2.
A Mirage A-site execute typically comprises three smokes to block off three angles:
Starting with the CT smoke, here is how you line it up.
Find this vertical line on the wall at the corner to go round to ramp, and line up like so.
Then, aim up a little under the corner of this tower and hit your jump throw.
If you don't have a jump throw bind, you'll need one, so check out our handy guide here.
So now you've got your CT smoke, but outside of a standard execute, what else can it be used for? Try throwing the CS2 Mirage CT smoke on an eco round and have your team waterfall out of Palace with a couple of flashes to try and get some bomb plant money.
Let's move on to Stairs, which hasn't changed much from CS:GO. For Stairs, head to the same corner of the first step just outside of T Spawn as shown.
Next, look up to this gap in the scaffolding and left-click throw.
It's worth mentioning at this point, that unlike the CT smoke, we wouldn't advise throwing the Stairs smoke on it's own. The CTs still have too much vision of the site with just a Stairs smoke for that to be viable.
Instead, try combining it with the Jungle smoke we're about to show you, and just like the eco strategy, utilise Palace to throw off the A anchor and try to get CT control for the post plant with the absence of the smoke blocking it off.
Right, let's move on to Jungle. We hated the Jungle smoke on CS:GO because we'd so often leave little gaps on either side, but you'll have nothing to worry about in CS2 because covering a whole space is one of the best features of the new smokes in CS2.
For the Jungle smoke, continue up the steps from the Stairs smoke and head round the corner to this spot on the wall (use the minimap in the screenshot for extra clarity).
Now, pull a 180 and aim at this spot. Just like Stairs, left-click throw.
Now you have the best smokes for an A execute on Mirage in CS2, so how about we help you get Mid-control earlier in the round?
Mid-control is incredibly important on Mirage. Without it, the CTs will able to know that you're preparing for an execute and stack onto a site, or, even worse, flank you before you even get the chance to throw your smokes.
Fortunately, these smokes will be relatively easy for you, as we've found lineups for each one from the same spot.
Let's start with the quintessential one, the smoke you'll see all the way from Silver to Global Elite, the Top Mid smoke.
Just like the Stairs smoke on A, the Top Mid smoke is incredibly similar to in CS:GO. Jump on top of the bin in T Spawn, aim at the antenna like we've shown and left-click throw.
Let's move on to Window, the smoke you really want to throw if you want to stop the CT AWPer from being able to steal any kills at all from the start of the round.
For the Window smoke on CS2 Mirage, move to the left of the bin and aim at the top right of the door, then, tap D and hit your jump throw.
Finally, the Top Connector smoke. An ultra-powerful smoke, the Top Connector smoke allows you to push the CTs out of valuable map space, pop through the smoke as it fades, or use it to push up Short with minimal risk of the CTs shooting you in the back.
For the Top Connector smoke, crouch to the left of the bin and aim as shown. Then, crouch walk forwards until your crosshair meets the tip of the balcony and jump throw.
With those three smokes in your arsenal, you're now best equipped to take Mid on Mirage in CS2. Happy defaulting!
But what if defaulting goes wrong? Well, then we guess there's only one thing left to do.
Rush. B.
Rushing B on Mirage is special, and that will be no different in CS2.
A strategy you can always rely upon, knowing the best smokes for a Mirage B Rush in CS2 will be sure to earn you a couple of rounds when in dire need. Below you'll find the following smokes:
Like the Mid smokes, we've found smokes from the same lineup, so one player can throw the utility while everyone else focuses on fragging.
Let's start with the Market Window.
Get into the corner to the right when you leave TV room and aim up at the tower as shown, then, jump throw.
Next up, the Market Door.
Combining these two smokes will allow you to completely block out rotating CTs while also giving you enough room on the site to manoeuvre into the best post-plant positions possible.
For the Market Door smoke, aim instead at this window on the tower and jump throw.
So there you have it. You are now fully equipped with every smoke you need to know on Mirage in CS2.
Now get out there, and climb up the ELO table.
