The BLAST.tv Austin Major is finally here.
16 teams have entered the competition today with each team dreaming of advancing further into the competition and writing their names into Counter-Strike history.
As expected, the Major kicked off with some absolute bangers, so let's take a quick look at the action.
HEROIC are one of the favourites to advance 3-0 from Stage 1 of the BLAST.tv Austin Major and they showed exactly why as they easily brushed aside hometown heroes, NRG.
Played on Dust2, HEROIC advanced to the 2-0 bracket with a 13-5 win, a commanding scoreline that began with a 9-3 CT half from the EU team.
xfl0ud was the loudest in the game, his 22 kills helped his team pick up the comfortable win.
Two of the other favourites for the 3-0 spots, OG and B8, would be facing off in a Pick'Ems-ruiner in the second 1-0 game.
Fought on Inferno, B8 got off to a flying start, winning five rounds straight on their CT side. They extended that lead to 9-3, and looked set to wrap the game up quickly in the second half.
However, OG fought back hard, but couldn't do enough to get more than nine rounds despite spooke topping the server with 19 kills.
The arrival of nettik has revived hopes for FlyQuest and Aussie CS, and it's easy to see why considerinug the way he dismantled BetBoom.
The new FlyQuest man sent his team flying through to the 2-0 bracket on Mirage, his 20 kills and absurd multi-kill potential was enough to leave BetBoom with no chance in the game.
13-6 when it was all said and done, FlyQuest will now face their toughest test yet as they face off against HEROIC in their 2-0 game tomorrow.
There's going to be an NA team in the 2-0 bracket, Wildcard secured their place in the advancement games with a narrow victory over Chinese team, Lynn Vision.
A 19-17 victory on Nuke, Lynn Vision AWPer z4kr topped the server for kills with 32, but it was the OT fragging of NA prodigy JBa that secured the win for Wildcard.
The American was on fire in OT, but it could've been very different if susp hadn't pulled off this ace earlier on in the game.
You can start watching the Major again now, Complexity fans, your boys pulled off a comfortable win over Fluxo.
Another game of Inferno, Complexity did everything they needed to on the CT half, coming out of it with an 8-4 lead. It didn't take them long to wrap the game up, too, they won it with a 13-9 scoreline.
A real team performance from the NA squad, everyone went positive as Grim and JT shared the top frag spot with 17 kills each.
Legacy and Chinggis Warriors both didn't get off to strong starts over here in Austin, but things went from bad to worse for the Mongolian team as they fell to Legacy on Nuke.
6-6 at the half, Chinggis Warriors had a fantastic opportunity to take the game as they went onto their CT side, but Legacy proved to just be too strong as they won the map 13-10.
n1ssim topped the server for tthe Brazilians, he ended the game on a 1.22 rating thanks to his 20-15 statline.
VINI and zakk are usually all smiles, but they may not be feeling too happy as they head to bed tonight as they'll find themselves fighting for their Major lives tomorrow as Nemiga sent Imperial down to the 0-2 bracket.
A second game for Nemiga on Train, the young European squad learned from their earlier match against BetBoom, and their young star zweih had a break out performance as he dropped 22 kills.
13-9 when it was all said and done, decenty looked *ahem* decent-y for the Brazilians, but it just wasn't enough for them to avoid the 0-2 bracket.
It's not been a great day for fans of Swedish CS. They may have an all-Swedish team in the Major again for the first time since 2019, but that team has so far only put up five rounds in their first two games.
After a 13-1 battering at the hands of Wildcard to begin the day, Metizport continued their struggles against TYLOO, recording just four rounds on Mirage as the Chinese team took the map 13-4.
Mercury was the star, he went 18-10 to send TYLOO to tomorrow's 1-1 games.
