It’s safe to say that Vitality might actually be unbeatable.
NAVI players have been saying it all week, but we’re sure they didn’t think it would come to fruition in such an extreme way. The Ukrainian organisation found themselves 11-0 up on the opening map, but Vitality fought their way back to the win and never looked back.
NAVI might have thought it was finally their time when they were sitting pretty at 11-0, but it quickly became clear that the aforementioned clutch took the life out of them.
They simply couldn’t catch a break on their T side, with mezii and flameZ starring and combining to make the A site an impenetrable fortress. From 0-11 down to 16-12 victors, when the stat flashed up on screen that Vitality had now won 13 grand final maps in a row, it really did feel like it was going to extend to 15.
And spoiler alert: it did.
Anubis was close, the two teams were evenly split at the break, but Vitality were the first to 12. Although makazze then almost pulled off an incredible ace clutch to force OT, ropz kept his cool in the 1v1, sniping his opponent’s face off to give Vitality a 2-0 lead in the series.
Dust2 was anything but close. Now in full swing, Vitality were rampant; they breezed their way to a 10-2 T side, with ZywOo and ropz combining for 28 kills in that time.
NAVI barely even got to attempt to comeback in the second half, with Vitality swiftly ending the series at 13-3.
The two teams will now head off to IEM Atlanta, where they will potentially get the chance to have another rematch in what is becoming a hotly contested rivalry.
