Arcadia-7 is a huge planet, and you can explore most of it during your stay in StarRupture. Learning how to unlock the map will make exploring much easier, among other things.
Your map will help you find points of interest and new resources to farm, and it will quickly become one of your most important tools in the hostile planet. Here's how to get it.
Instead of giving it to you as a starter tool, as is common in most survival games, StarRupture asks you to work towards it. This helps get you in the "stranded in a new planet" mindset in which your character is, and also lets you focus initially on your base before you start wandering through Arcadia-7.

But how to unlock the map? It is simple but, like many other things in StarRupture, takes a bit of time. The map is a reward for reaching trust level three with the Moon Energy Corporation.
First, you'll need to take it to level two, of course, which you can do so by sending Wolfram Bars via the Orbital Cargo Launcher. You can easily do this by simply harvesting Wolfram Ores and putting them through a Smelter, easy enough.
To reach level 3 and unlock the map, you'll need to export Calcium Ore. If you don't know where to find it, don't worry, we've got you covered. At this point, you don't even need to process the ore. Simply feed it directly into the Orbital Cargo Launcher and export it.
You'll earn five points per Ore shipped and you need a total of 1,500 to reach level three, so you'll get there relatively quickly.
Don't obsess over this and don't overfocus on a single corporation over the others. You'll ideally be progressing equally with all five corporations and hit progression walls with all of them at some point.
Keep your Titanium and Wolfram supply lines going for your other corporations, and simply create a new one dedicated to Calcium and export it to make the executives at Moon Energy Corporation happy.
Once you unlock the Map you'll be able to interact with Geo Scanners to reveal large swaths of it, find points of interest, and figure out where new resource nodes might be based on certain colors!
