If you just finished the Prologue in Windrose and woke up on a quiet island, this is where the Islander tutorial really begins.
You are alone, lightly equipped, and expected to figure things out step by step. The game uses this phase to teach crafting, building, combat basics, and resource management in a simple way.

Before the Islander quest starts, you defend your ship from pirates, including Blackbeard’s crew. This section teaches you basic combat and movement. After a short cutscene where you get shot, you wake up on a remote island fully healed.
Your first task is simple. Set up a Bonfire. Walk around the area and collect 5 Wood. Once you have enough, open the construction menu and place the Bonfire. This becomes your base point on the island.
Now you need a few essential structures. Start with the Workbench. It requires 5 Wood. Next, build a Cooking Fire using 3 Wood and 3 Stones. You can usually find Stones near the shore. For the Tent, you need 10 Plant Fiber and 4 Wood.
To get Plant Fiber, first craft a Stone Axe at the Workbench using 3 Wood and 3 Stones. Then head to the shore and hit plants and algae to gather fibers. Once you have enough materials, craft and place the tent to continue.

After placing the Tent, two boars attack you. Defeat them to collect Rough Hide. Your next build is the Armor and Clothing Workshop. It needs 5 Wood and 10 Coarse Fabric. You craft Coarse Fabric at the Workbench using 3 Plant Fiber for each piece.
The workshop must be placed under a roof, so build a small structure with floor and roof pieces before using it. Once set up, craft Survivor’s Boots using 2 Rough Hide and 2 Coarse Fiber.
The next task sends you to a nearby cave marked on your mini map. Before going, craft an Iron Pickaxe at the Workbench. Use it inside the cave to mine Copper Ore.
During this part, you meet Doctor Galen, an important NPC. After this interaction, two main quests unlock: Rescuing the Crew and I Need a Bigger Boat.

To turn Copper Ore into usable material, you must build two new structures. First, the Charcoal Kiln, which requires 25 Wood and 20 Clay. Second, the Smelting Furnace, which needs 15 Clay and 30 Stones.
Clay can be mined nearby using your Pickaxe. Use Wood in the Charcoal Kiln to make Charcoal. Then, combine Charcoal and Copper Ore in the Smelting Furnace to produce Copper Ingots.
The final step in the Islander tutorial is building the Weaponsmith Workshop. It requires 10 Wood and 5 Copper Ingots. After placing it, craft one melee weapon.
You can choose between Club, Rapier, or Saber. Once crafted, the Islander tutorial ends and you are free to focus on the main quests.
