Assault Rifles may have been the dominant class for some time in Call of Duty, but Black Ops 6's omnimovement and generally smaller map design has seen a huge boost for the SMGs.
There's a whole host of competitive and meta SMGs in Black Ops 6, as well as some that are just downright a good time to use, and that's left many players asking what the best SMGs in Black Ops 6 actually are.
If you're one of those people, then we've got you covered. In this article we'll take you through the best SMGs in Black Ops 6 for Multiplayer, Warzone, and Ranked Play, as well as the best loadouts and builds for SMGs to use in those gamemodes.
The Jackal PDW is without a doubt the best SMG in Black Ops 6 and is the current meta SMG for Ranked Play.
Also viable in Warzone, the Jackal PDW combines strong damage with a solid rate of fire and manageable recoil, making it the perfect choice for whatever gamemode you might be playing.
For the purpose of it being the meta SMG for Ranked Play in Black Ops 6, we decided that in our best Jackal PDW loadout it was best if we showed you what you should be using in Ranked Play.
Start out with a Compensator, as this will further reduce recoil. Then, add a Ranger Foregrip, Ergonomic Grip, and Balanced Stock, all of these attachments will improve the handling and mobility of the gun, making it even easier to slide into Hardpoint hills and secure them for your team.
Finally, use the Long Barrel, this will extend the damage range of the Jackal PDW and make it even more effective when coming up against ARs.
The Tanto .22 is the best SMG for use in Black Ops 6 Warzone, however, it can also be an absolute machine in Multiplayer.
A four-shot kill at a decent range, the Tanto .22 balances a slower rate of fire with zero recoil and a high damage output, making it the perfect hybrid between Assault Rifles and SMGs.
Considering that you want to avoid using the Tanto .22 in Ranked Play, we've decided to use Gunfighter in our best Tanto .22 loadout and build so you can maximise the amount of attachments you can put on the gun.
Consider using an optic of your choice, Balanced Stock, Vertical Foregrip, Suppressor, and Quickdraw Grip. All of these attachments will boost the handling, mobility, and accuracy of the gun, given you an even greater advantage over your enemies.
The final attachments in our Tanto .22 best loadout are focused on upgrading the guns firepower. They are the Long Barrel, Extended Mag, and Overpressured Rounds.
If you're tired of using the Jackal PDW in Ranked Play and want a meta alternative, look no further than the PP-919.
Honestly, the PP-919 looks almost unrecogniseable when you have all the best attachments equipped for it, but it will still give you all the satisfaction that the Bizon always has in Call of Duty.
Like the Jackal PDW, seeing as this is a PP-919 Ranked Play loadout, we won't be using Gunfighter.
Instead, we'll focus on eliminating some recoil with a Compensator, adding some extra mobility and handling with an Ergonomic Grip and No Stock, and improving the base damage and damage range with the Reinforced Barrel.
The final attachment for your PP-919 loadout and build should be Fast Mag 2. This reduces the PP-919's massive reload time while still giving you a decent amount of bullets to play with.
Keeping up with an SMG that will be effective in Ranked Play, we have the C9. While this C9 loadout and build is therefore designed for Ranked Play, it will also be incredibly effective in Multiplayer, and you should consider using it there if you don't like to use Gunfighter.
Just like with the PP-919, the best attachments for the C9 starts with the Compensator and the Reinforced Barrel. These two attachments do wonders for your damage and recoil control, and when the Vertical Foregrip is added into the mix, the gun basically has zero recoil.
For the final two attachments in the best C9 loadout and build in Black Ops 6, use an Ergonomic Grip and No Stock. These two attachments massively improving the handling and mobility of the weapon, turning you into a speed demon as you look to break Hardpoint hills.
How about we end our list of the best loadouts and builds for SMGs in Black Ops 6 with one that's just a good time?
For that, you'll need the Saug, one of the most fun weapons thatg is likely to ever be added to a COD game, and that's because of the Akimbo stock attachment.
You'll first need to unlock the Saug via the Battlepass and then level it up so you can use the Akimbo attachment, but when you do, be prepared to be flying round corners and down hallways and making everyone regret they ever got in a lobby with you.
For the rest of the attachments, use a Suppressor so you stay off the minimap, as well as the CQB grip to make your handling and mobility even faster.
You'll need a Steady Aim Laser to improve your accuracy, as well as Extended Mag 2 because of the amount of bullets you'll be firing, but you can then reduce the amount of bullets you need to use to kill someone by adding Overpressured Rounds and a Reinforced Barrel.
If Akimbo isn't for you, then we have two more loadouts for the Saug which you can find here. You could also use this Saug loadout for Zombies, just swap the Overpressured Rounds for Recoil Springs and the Reinforced Barrel for the CHF Barrel.
It's a monster for taking down the Terminus boss fight, so you definitely will want to try it out.
