EU RMR B for the Perfect World Shanghai Major promised to be a bloodbath and it did not disappoint.
An event packed with upsets, it's conclusion left us with an entire team of Major debutants as well as one of the teams who made it to the playoffs of the previous Major unable to qualify this time around.
Let's go back over every team who qualified.
The two teams with 3-0 records were two teams that no one would have expected to be close to that record before the RMR.
However, due to a ruling from Valve during the RMR, that 3-0 record will ultimately amount to nothing but a confidence boost.
The first of those two teams, BIG, had the easier route, they returned to CS Major action for the first time since the IEM Rio Major in 2022 by beating Sashi, HEROIC, and Passion UA.
The second, 3DMAX, had to pull off a huge upset in order to go 3-0, they beat G2 in their final RMR match.
That wasn't their only hard game, either. They also had to face Eternal Fire in the previous round, beating them 19-16.
An incredible display by the French team, they will now become the first all-French team at a Major since Vitality at the PGL Major Stockholm 2021.
G2 were the big favourites to go through with a 3-0 record, but they didn't let their defeat at the hands of 3DMAX cast their Major hopes further into doubt.
Matched with Spirit in their 2-1 game, G2 proved to be the better side of that particular match up once again, taking it 2-1 after a 16-14 finish on the deciding map of Nuke.
Also in the 3-1 team are HEROIC, who bounced back from their loss against BIG to beat NIP and Passion UA 2-1 to send the Ukrainian team into the 2-2 bracket.
The final 3-1 team is Virtus.pro, who escaped embarrassment after being upset by Passion UA in their opening game.
They bounced back with consecutive 13-10 wins against TSM and 9 Pandas before defeating Danish squad Sashi in their final game.
Given that Passion UA had captured hearts by taking down both Virtus.pro and Spirit on the opening day, there was plenty of concern when subsequent losses saw them enter the final day still needing to win two maps in order to qualify.
Matched up against a device-less Astralis, the odds were against them once again even in the absence of the Danes' talisman, but they overcame Astralis with ease and a 2-0 scoreline.
The other two teams to go 3-2 were NIP and Spirit, however, with just seven spots available from EU RMR B, the two would have to face off in order to decide that last place.
That decider match started well for Spirit, they tore NIP apart on the T side of Mirage to kick off the series with a 13-5 win.
NIP fought hard during map two, Vertigo, and started the game with a 5-0 lead. However, as is often the case when faced with a team such as Spirit, Spirit fought harder, and eventually the closed the series with a 13-11 win.
