It wouldn't be BLAST Bounty without upset wins, and we got an absolutely massive one to round out the quarter-finals as zweih's PARIVISION got revenge against Spirit.
There were almost a couple more upsets, too, so let's take a look at the action from this round of matches.
We began the playoffs with Liquid taking on a weakened Falcons team. However, playing without their coach and star opener didn't seem to effect Falcons too much; they managed to get a 2-0 win over their opponents as m0NESY dominated ultimate.
Well, and the entire server.
Liquid did push Falcons to OT on Nuke, but a 16-14 defeat was all they could muster as they fell behind in the series on their own map pick. Dust2 was nowhere near as close, mostly thanks to NiKo and m0NESY combining for 46 kills.
FURIA then survived a scare against HEROIC - they were battered on Mirage as they headed into map two having secured just three rounds on their opponents' map pick.
They did manage to turn it around on Dust2, though. In fact, they did even better than HEROIC did on Mirage, closing out the map 13-2 thanks to a 1.83 rating from their star man, molodoy. Nuke was much closer, a 13-9 win for FURIA, with molodoy once again topping the server on 20 kills.
Photo: Luc BouchonDay two of the quarter-finals saw GamerLegion take on Vitality - and they pushed the reigning Major champions far further than anyone would have expected them to.
REZ and hypex both impressed on Inferno for GamerLegion, but it was the combined impact of ropz, ZywOo, and mezii that ensured Vitality closed out the map with a 13-9 win.
Sent to Vitality's pick of Dust2, it started terrifyingly for the team of 2025. Although they managed to claw the first half back, REZ's 19-5 CT side performance saw GamerLegion take a narrow lead into the break, and keeping him quiet on the T side is what allowed Vitality to take the series 2-0.
Heading into the main event, PARIVISION took on Spirit in what would be a thrilling first match for zweih against his former team.
The young Russian struggled in the BO3, but Jame was exceptional, and his calling allowed PARIVISION to bounce back from a 13-5 loss on Overpass to take Mirage 13-9 and Ancient 13-8.
