We waved goodbye to three teams today at the EU RMR B following Spirit and iNation’s eliminations yesterday, while three more teams secured their tickets to Paris alongside 9ine and Heroic. Here is a rundown of all the action in Copenhagen today!
Four-time Major winning organization Astralis were eliminated from the RMR today at the hands of Ninjas in Pyjamas. In a storyline that could not be more fitting if it tried, Nicolai "device" Reedtz took on his former team which now is the home of former Astralis player, Kristian “k0nfig” Wienecke. The Ninjas made light work of the Danes despite the best efforts of device, with the European lineup taking the series 2-0 after 16-4 win on Nuke and a 16-11 victory on Vertigo to end Astralis’ hopes of making the final CS:GO Major.
Resurging regions have been a theme for this Major, with the UK and Poland having teams qualify. That unfortunately won’t be the case for Bulgaria as 500 bowed out today against ENCE. Israeli superstar Guy "NertZ" Iluz was on a tear, helping his team to a 2-0 series win with a 1.46 rating.
There will be no Turkish teams in Paris either as Eternal Fire was knocked out at the hands of Aurora. It was heartbreak for İsmailсan "XANTARES" Dörtkardeş and co. winning their own map pick of Anubis but ultimately losing in overtime on both Mirage and Inferno and thus ending their run with a 1-3 record.
Viktor "sdy" Orudzhev is heading back to the Major, this time wearing a Monte jersey rather than a NAVI one following his team's win over Forze today. Despite sdy being the most well-versed player on this roster when it comes to tier one, his Jordanian teammate Mohammad "BOROS" Malhasimpressed with his 1.54 rating in the 2-0 victory.
With Falcons down in the dreaded Last Chance Qualifier, Vitality managed to pull through and ensure at minimum two French players will be in Paris. Dan "apEX" Madesclaire and Mathieu "ZywOo" Herbaut are locked in for the Challengers stage after their reverse sweep over German side BIG with 16-9 and 16-7 wins on Nuke and Overpass after initially losing Mirage.
In the most high-profile match of this RMR so far, G2 took down Cloud9 in the clash of the Titans, sending the CIS team down to the dreaded 2-2 game. The European mix qualifies for Paris after missing out on IEM Rio, with G2 now considered one of the early favourites considering that they are now the number one ranked team in the world.
