The BLAST.tv Paris Major was one of the most exciting and unpredictable Majors of all time.
Giants fell, and new stars rose to prominence as the playoffs were invaded by a host of tier-two teams that only the purist of Counter-Strike savants would have had even the smallest of expectations for them to succeed there.
The final, which saw home crowd favourites Vitality triumph over GamerLegion, was casted by launders, who has recently made a tier list ranking all the Majors in CS:GO history.
In that tier-list video, he says that the BLAST.tv Major was the "best of all time", so read on to find out why he believes that is the case.
Few people would be surprised to see that launders' 'AceZone' tier category involved the two ELEAGUE Majors.
The first, Atlanta, saw Astralis finally get over their Major choking to claim their first in a thrilling final, while the second in Boston was NA's finest moment as Cloud9 beat FaZe in one of the greatest games in CS:GO history.
At the other end of the spectrum, in his Competitor tier, is the PGL Krakow Major, that, despite its fun final, he places so low down due to the unexpected nature of the underdogs who competed in it.
On the chronological flipside of the BLAST.tv Major, there is Dreamhack Winter 2013, the first Major in CS:GO, launders place it surprisingly low down in the C tier.
With underdeveloped storylines outside of the NIP 87-0 team and an upset win from fnatic, it doesn't do enough in launders' eyes to be anything overly impressive.
Of course, launders saved the best for last, and that was the BLAST.tv Paris Major. But what reason did he cite for it being placed so highly?
Was it the subversion of expectations as teams like NAVI and G2 crashed out in the Legends Stage? Was it the inspirational runs from Liquid and GamerLegion who found themselves 0-2 down in the Challengers Stage and still made it to playoffs and beyond?
No, in fact, it was because he got to cast the Grand Final with his hype partner Scrawny.
We respect it.
