Just under a month ago, we said farewell to Counter-Strike: Global Offensive in the most spectacular way that we possibly could.
Despite being the last Major for the beautiful game we have grown to love over the last ten years, there were also many firsts. It was the first Major to be held in France, as well as the first Major ran by BLAST.tv.
With all that being said, we are proud to announce the launch of our short documentary, Making it Major, which takes a look back at the process of running Counter-Strike's premier event.
When it came time to choose the host venue of the BLAST.tv Major, it was important to choose somewhere iconic that was embedded in the history of Counter-Strike. In the opening episode, we find out more about the process behind setting up the Major from Chief Innovation Officer, Nicolas Estrup.
BLAST prides itself on having some of the best production quality in esports, but running a Major is a "bigger responsibility" according to BLAST's in-game specialist Sebastian Grydholt. With around 300 team members working on the production side of things, everyone needs to be on the top of their game and working together as a large cohesive unit to ensure that the broadcast runs smoothly.
On the Monday following the conclusion of the Legends stage, it was all systems go when it came to transferring all the equipment needed to the Accor Arena.
Holding 20,000 passionate fans, the arena for the Major was quite the spectacle and in this opening episode, we take a look behind the scenes of the production that took place prior to the doors opening on Thursday for the first quarterfinals. We even get an exclusive look at the reactions from the likes of FaZe and Liquid players when they witnessed the arena for the first time.
