After multiple giant roster moves during the offseason, we've finally gotten a complete look at how the newly formed North American squads stack up against each other.
The RLCS 2026 Open 1 is also the first time an NA regional concludes on LAN rather than online.
Additionally, with reigning world champions failing to qualify for the in-person portion of the event, North America's top spot was up for the taking for the first time since the beginning of RLCS 2025.
Unlike their European counterparts, North America's quarterfinals played out quickly and almost exactly as expected.
Gen.G Mobil 1 Racing, now featuring an Englishman in the form of rise, made quick work of 100X35 Esports, whose players are better known for their success in Collegiate Rocket League.
GGM1 cruised onto the next round, outscoring 100X35 17-5 in a 4-1 victory.
In the second quarterfinal shown on the broadcast, the star-studded Shopify Rebellion roster achieved a 4-1 victory of their own.
However, it's worth noting that FUT Esports kept every game to only a one-goal difference, making the series as close as a 4-1 can possibly be.
The semifinals were by far the most competitive portion of NA's Open 1 playoffs.
Spacestation Gaming just about managed to hold off a potential reverse sweep from Gen.G, with Chronic performing at a level of play a cut above the rest to help SSG secure the 4-3 win.
The second semifinal almost went down as a shocking upset as [REDACTED] put Shopify Rebellion on the back foot, forcing the playoff favorites to claw their way back from behind to take the series in another Game 7.
As the analyst desk noted afterward, neither team looked like they were quite playing their best, perhaps due to the intensity of the situation.
Shopify Rebellion celebrating their Open 1 victoryAfter seeing each team's earlier performances, it was no surprise that the desk AND chat voted overwhelmingly in SpaceStation's favor, 4-0 and 75%-25%, respectively.
However, Shopify clearly hit the pitch with a new mindset and a solid gameplan.
They proceeded to truly make CJCJ proud, rapidly sweeping SSG 4-0, and only allowing a single goal throughout the entire series while scoring several nice plays of their own.
