2100 days.
It's been nearly 6 YEARS since a North American team has been at the pinnacle of Rocket League esports.
Finally, NRG has accomplished what many thought the region may never achieve again.
In what was objectively the most competitive RLCS LAN to date, the American superteam of Atomic, BeastMode, Daniel, and coach Satthew has claimed the RLCS 2025 World Championship title for themselves, NRG, and North America.
We spoke with Atomic after NRG's 4-1 Grand Final victory over Team Falcons.
NRG's celebratory TweetFinally. Third time's the charm. How do you feel to be a World Champion?
I still can't believe it right now, I'm not gonna lie. It's gonna take a bit to set in.
This is literally what we talk about all the time. I can't believe it, so I don't... I can't even tell you how it feels. I'm just speechless.
How does it feel knowing that NA as a region came into this event with like, no expectations? Everybody was talking trash about NA the entire time. Even TBates gave up.
Yeah, yeah, I saw that. I get it, but... it also kinda helped us, I feel.
We stopped thinking about it like, we need to win, and we did embrace a kind of an underdog mentality because we don't get the same practice these guys do all the time, so it's hard. But, every time we come, the first two days of scrims are not great. Then we start getting better and better.
The day before we left for bootcamp was like, some of our best scrims ever. And I think it was the underdog mentality; every game we wanted to earn it and just not be like "oh we're up 2-0, we're gonna win this series." Every game we're here to outplay them.
How was it playing in front of this crowd? It was with you, against you, the nature of the craziness of this crowd.
We were talking about how it's maybe a buff to have the crowd against you, but... then we're like walking out for finals and they were cheering for us, what the heck?
I mean, it worked out. In the past we think maybe having the crowd on your side is a bit more pressure, but it didn't matter. I think we were just so locked in it didn't matter, honestly.
Satthew smiling with the NRG playersQuick turnaround for next season: November. How are you gonna even squeeze in a break in this time between now and then?
Yeah... we honestly have no idea. I'm going on a vacation with my family for like, a week, to Spain so when I get back from that we might honestly have to start scrimming like a week right after that so... it's crazy.
But I'm happy. I prefer it to waiting 'til the new year because then you're just bored and it's not as fun.
Expanded RLCS as well. Will you play 2v2s next year?
Yeah, yeah. I'll probably try to see what happens and maybe get a duo.
And we have a new Kickoff LAN as well. The winner of that will get an automatic spot at Major 1 and an extra spot for their region at Major 2, so you could have a fifth NA team in Paris. Does that give you an extra incentive early on?
Yeah, yeah, it might be nice to win it for somebody and give them a spot.
How excited are you for next season?
I'm super excited. We were hearing the crowd go crazy [during the announcement], but we had to listen to the isntructions on how to walk out.
We were tryna see what was going on, but it looks super sick. I'm excited.
Check out the newly announced RLCS 2026 schedule!
