BLAST Open Lisbon kicked off yesterday and day one was full of some incredible Counter-Strike.
Day two also didn't disappoint, with the teams from Group B all playing their first games at the event.
The day featured some absolutely stellar performances, as well as a banger series between M80 and The MongolZ, so let's get into the action.
There's been plenty of criticism leveled towards G2 so far in 2025, but huNter- quickly put all of that to bed as he put in an all-timer performance on map one against Imperial.
Taking place on Mirage, the map was pretty comfortable for G2 as they won 13-8, but that was purely down to huNter-. The experienced Bosnian had an incredible game, going 36-10 to shut down the Brazilian side.
The second map, Inferno, was closer. It ended at 13-11 in favour of G2.
huNter- didn't let up, he picked up another 20 kills but was pipped to the top-frag by malbsMd, who had one more on 21.
If game one was a display of what a one-man army can do, game two showed what happens when a team all comes together to take down an opponent.
The second 2-0 of the day, Eternal Fire defeated Liquid with ease, winning both maps 13-7.
woxic and XANTARES put the hurt on Liquid on Dust2, the duo combined for 33 kills as Liquid slumped to just two rounds in the second half after a competitive 7-5 scoreline at the break.
Captain MAJ3R took over on Anubis, a rare top-fragging performance from the veteran sealed the deal on the series as he picked up 23 kills.
The MongolZ are one of the best teams in the world right now but NA team M80 gave them a serious run for their money in the third game of the day.
The series kicked off with a narrow win for The MongolZ on Dust2, with the first map coming to a close at 13-11. slaxz- impressed with 18 kills, but that wasn't enough to prevent The MongolZ from claiming the map as 910 and mzinho combined for 41.
M80 kept themselves in the series with a 13-11 win of their own, this time on Ancient. 910 stayed strong for The MongolZ, but this time it was the 48 combined kills of reck and Lake that saw M80 take us to a third.
Unfortunately, the third map wasn't anywhere near as close. Although it wasn't to the extreme as FaZe and Virtus.pro on day one, The MongolZ did run away with Inferno to win 13-3.
The final game of the day saw 2024's team of the year NAVI enter the event, facing off against Brazilian titans FURIA.
Map one, Anubis, was a close affair - two 8-4 halves favouring T sides pushed us to an overtime. However, NAVI felt no discomfort in that overtime, they took the map 16-12 with three straight CT round wins.
Map two, Mirage, wasn't anywhere near as close.
NAVI took the map 13-8, this time converting the game in regulation after an 8-4 lead at halftime. B1T and iM starred on the map, they each picked up 20 kills to send NAVI through to the upper bracket.
