17 years after its original release date, League of Legends is returning to its origin. Following on the footsteps of Runescape and World of Warcraft, Riot are taking their main title back to basics.
Here is everything you need to know about League Classic, the nostalgia-filled return to a modified version of Season 3 (2013) League of Legends.
League Classic Release Date
Despite having just been announced, this new (old) version of LoL is coming really soon. League Classic is coming out on July 29, 2026 at 8:00 am PT.

League Classic Summoner Spells
League Classic is bringing back long-forgotten Summoner Spells. Here are the ones playable on release:
- Barrier: Gain a short duration shield. Summoner’s Resolve: Barrier’s Shield is increased.
- Clairvoyance: Reveals a small area of the map for your team for a short duration. Summoner’s Insight: Retain sight on units revealed by Clairvoyance for 5 seconds.
- Clarity: Restores all nearby allied champions’ mana. Summoner’s Insight: Restores 25% more mana.
- Cleanse: Removes all disables and summoner spell debuffs affecting your champion and temporarily lowers the duration of incoming disables. Summoner’s Resolve: Extends the Tenacity buff duration.
- Exhaust: Slows target enemy champion and reduces their Attack Speed and damage dealt. Summoner’s Wrath: Exhaust also reduces the target’s Armor and Magic Resist by 10.
- Flash: Teleports you a short distance toward your cursor. Summoner’s Insight: Reduces Flash’s Cooldown by 15 seconds.
- Fortify: Grants invulnerability to all Allied Turrets and causes them to attack 100% faster for 6 seconds: Summoner’s Resolve: Turrets deal splash damage around their target.
- Ghost: Gain Move Speed and Ignore unit collision for the duration. Summoner’s Wrath: Bonus Move Speed granted by Ghost is increased.
- Heal: Restores Health to your champion and to nearby allies. Summoner’s Resolve: Gain 5 Health per level.
- Ignite: Deals true damage over time to target enemy champion and reduces healing effects on them for the duration. Summoner’s Wrath: While Ignite is on cooldown, gain 5 Ability Power and Attack Damage.
- Promote: Promotes a minion, granting it bonus stats, an empowering aura, and causing it to grant the caster gold for its kills. Summoner’s Wrath: The Siege Rider’s bonus Attack Damage aura also affects Champions.
- Rally: Summoners a temporary beacon which increases allied Attack Damage in an area. Summoner’s Wrath: Rally additionally gives Ability Power.
- Revive: Instantly revives your champion at your team’s Summoner Platform and increases their Movement Speed for a short duration. Summoner’s Insight: Revive temporarily grants the user 220-560 Health.
- Smite: Deals true damage to target enemy minion or pet. Summoner’s Resolve: Smite grants 10 gold per cast.
- Surge: Temporarily empowers your champion, granting Attack Speed and Ability Power for the duration. Summoner’s Wrath: Increases the Attack Speed bonus by 5% and the Ability Power bonus by 10%.
- Teleport: After a short channel, your champion teleports to a target allied minion, turret, or ward. Summoner’s Insight: Teleport’s channel time is reduced.
For those of you who are too young to remember, the Summoner’s Insight, Wrath, and Resolve are from the old Mastery trees, which are coming back in League Classic, alongside the old Runes.
Notable Items
League Classic is also bringing back some old favorite items. Among those, here are some of the most notable:
- Deathfire Grasp: 120 Ability Power. 10% Cooldown Reduction. Active: Deals 15% of target champion’s maximum health in magic damage and increases all subsequent magic damage taken by the target by 20% for 4 seconds.
- Heart of Gold: 200 Health. Shelling out 5 Gold per 10 seconds.
- Leviathan: 180 Health. Grants 32 Health per stack. Grants 2 stacks for a kill and 1 stack for an assist (maximum 20 stacks). A third of the stacks are lost upon death. At 20 stacks, reduces all damage taken by 15%.
- Ohmwrecker: 350 Health. 50 Ability Power. 15 Health Regen per 5 seconds. 15 Manage Regen per 5 seconds. Active: Prevents nearby enemy turrets from attacking for 2.5 seconds.
- Sword of the Divine: 45% Attack Speed. This item does not grant any Attack Speed while on cooldown. Champion kills reduce the current cooldown by 50%. Active: Grants 100% Attack Speed and 100% Critical Strike Chance for 3 seconds or 3 critical strikes.
- Sword of the Occult: 10 Attack Damage. Grants 5 Attack damage per stack. Grants 2 stacks for a kill or 1 stack for an assist. (max 20). A third of the stacks are lost upon death. At 20 stacks grants 15 bonus Move Speed.
And Riot Games took this opportunity to honor Maciej “Shushei” Ratuszniak, a player who won the first World Championship in League of Legends with Fnatic and who passed away in 2025. League Classic will feature Shushei's Mana Jug, a renamed version of Athene’s Unholy Grail.
