While Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced remains true to its source material for the most part, Ubisoft took the opportunity to try to modernize it.
Here are all the remake changes present in AC Black Flag Resynced, from graphical upgrades to entirely new story sections.
The biggest change in Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced’s story is the fact that the present day sections featuring Desmond and Abstergo are completely removed.
Similarly to Shadows, Resynced focuses entirely on the story told via Edward Kenway and his companions. That story is almost entirely unchanged, with the exception of one detail: we get an extra mission.
After concluding what was the entirety of the original game, Resynced will allow you to play through “A World Without Gold” a new endgame chapter.

In the original Black Flag, Kenway handles the Jackdaw with the help of Adéwalé, but they’re not alone in Resynced. The remake brings three new officers are available and bring new abilities for your ship.
You can find the Padre at Punta del Caracol and Lucy at Salt Key Bank. Follow their questlines to add them to your crew. Tobias “Deadman” Smith, the final officer, can only be unlocked via the aforementioned “A World Without Gold” endgame chapter.
Beyond these, Resynced also adds new side quests focused on Blackbeard and Stede Bonnet.
Most Assassin’s Creed Black Flag areas have been expanded in Resynced. Even if a mission layout remains mostly the same, you’ll often found more collectibles and secrets spread in the area.
You also often have multiple ways of completing a mission instead of being locked to a single route. There are no more stealth missions that give you a game over if you’re discovered, you can always fight your way out of a situation.
Resynced also allows you to Skip Time as you please, letting you tackle missions at different times of day.
The Great Inagua, Kenway’s pirate utopia, is Black Flag’s most noticeable progression tracker. Resynced expands on this by adding new buildings, new upgrade paths and even new characters.
You can upgrade the main building for bonus incomes and extra slots. Almost all buildings in Great Inagua have multiple upgrade tiers, unlocking new rewards (including legendary weapons). And Resynced also added two entirely new buildings: Fisherman’s Wharf and Treasure Dealer.
Milo Van Der Graaff, your contact for naval contracts in the original game is back in Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced, but this time you’ll actually talk to him directly at Great Inagua.
Lastly, Resynced adds a new character to the hideout in Bernard Woodhouse, the house’s butler. He wants you to recover the art collection of the house’s previous master, giving players new collectibles to find.

Like the original, Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced has a ton of content that comes in a multitude of varieties. The remake allows players to customize the difficulty of each of these tasks separately.
You have three difficulty options: Forgiving, Intended, and Hard. You can select one of these for each of these sections: Combat, Stealth, Naval Combat, and Activities.
