Diablo 4 Season 8 is here, and with it, Blizzard has shifted the class balance once again. It’s something they’ve been doing every season, trying to keep things fresh and make sure no class feels left out for too long.
The good news is, every class in the game is capable of clearing the content — bosses, endgame dungeons, The Pit, you name it. But some just do it a little better, or with less hassle. Let’s go over each class and where they stand this season.
Right now, Sorcerer is one of the best choices in the game. It’s great for almost everything — speedfarming, boss fights, and leveling. You’ve got a ton of build options too: Chain Lightning, Firewall, Blizzard, Meteor, Ball Lightning, and more.
The class is still a bit squishy, so you do have to be careful with positioning and movement, but the payoff is huge. Sorcerers can clear mobs fast and melt bosses with the right setup. It takes a little time to get used to how the builds flow, but once it clicks, it’s smooth sailing.
Necromancer has been in a good place lately, and Season 8 is no different. Whether you go with a Minion build, Blood build, or Bone Spear, you’re going to be in good shape. It’s one of the easiest classes to play thanks to strong survivability and steady damage output.
It may not be the fastest at farming, but it handles bosses and endgame content extremely well. Necros also have a lot of build variety, which keeps things from getting stale.
Barbarians are always a solid pick. They’re tanky, easy to play, and hit hard. Builds like Whirlwind, Hammer of the Ancients, or Upheaval can handle pretty much anything in the game.
You don’t have to worry too much about survival — just pick a good build, get the right gear, and you’ll be fine.
The downside is they’re not great at speedfarming. They’re more of a slow-and-steady type class, but if you don’t mind that, Barbarian offers a nice balance between damage and defense. They also do well against tough bosses like Belial, since they can survive his long fights and keep dishing out hits.
Spiritborn is still relatively new, and it feels like it’s filling the same niche that Druids used to aim for — just better. It’s fast, hits hard, and can take down bosses without too much effort. The Firestorm and Poison Quill builds in particular are seeing some success.
However, to get the most out of Spiritborn, you’ll probably need some Uniques. Without them, it still performs fine, but doesn’t have that same “wow” factor. It’s a solid class, just not quite top-tier right now.
Rogue continues to be a mixed bag. It’s great for leveling and has some fun, fast builds like Death Trap and Shadow Step. But once you start getting into tougher content or boss fights, things get rough.
Rogue is fragile, and unless you’re playing a very specific build like Death Trap, it tends to fall behind. The class has high damage potential, but not much room for mistakes. If you enjoy a quick, hit-and-run style, it can still be fun — just be ready to dodge a lot.
Druid has some good ideas, but it just isn’t quite there yet. There are a few builds, like Cataclysm or Earth and Sky, that can eventually perform well, but they take a lot of effort and gear. Even then, they’re still outshone by pretty much every other class.
It’s a shame, because Druid is a fun conceptually — shapeshifting, nature spells, all that — but it often feels like you’re working harder for the same or worse results. Maybe future patches will bring Druids back into the spotlight, but for now, they’re just not a strong choice for Belial fights or high-end farming.
