Season 8 of Diablo 4 brought in something new called Boss Powers. Basically, when you defeat certain bosses, you can unlock these unique powers and add them to your build. Some are super strong, some are just okay, and others… well, let’s just say they’re more fun than useful.
We’ve taken all the Boss Powers and sorted them into five tiers — S, A, B, C, and D — to help you figure out what’s worth using and what you can probably skip. This list is mixed up from the usual meta rankings, so you can see some new combos and maybe discover a hidden gem.
Let’s get into it.
Boss Powers tier list for Diablo 4 Season 8
S-Tier
Image via BlizzardThese are top picks because they work well in a bunch of situations. They bring consistent damage, utility, or both — no matter your build.
- Ashava’s Poison Breath: Great for poison builds. Every time you hit an enemy with DoT, it spawns a big poison wave. Works best if your build keeps up constant pressure.
- Grigoire’s Lightning Square: If you're using Core Skills a lot (like Rogues or Storm Druids), this spreads lightning damage all around. Solid stun effect too.
- Lilith’s Wind of Hate: Casting any skill sends out spikes that hit pretty hard. It stacks extra damage the more it hits, and it can even spawn clones to help chip down elites.
- Torusk’s Rage: Hitting crowd-controlled enemies boosts your damage, speed, and movement. Helps a lot with keeping momentum in fights.
- Urivar’s Lobbed Bombs: Drops some serious firepower when you use an Ultimate. If you like fast ult cooldowns and explosions, it’s a strong choice.
A-Tier
Image via BlizzardThese are still very good but often need the right build or situation to really shine.
- Andariel’s Flaming Skull: Sit still for a second, and a fire-skull starts circling, burning enemies. It’s perfect for burn builds, but you gotta stay in one spot for it to work.
- Lord Zir’s Blood Pool: Bleed builds love this. Damaging enemies spawns blood pools that deal big bleed damage. Also gives you some healing, which is a nice bonus.
- Avarice’s Explosive Ore: If you’re stacking resource generation, this one works well. Excess resources become fire bombs. A bit situational, but very satisfying when it works.
- Wandering Death’s Chest Beam: Channeling creates a frost beam that boosts your damage against affected enemies. It’s cool for certain classes but not a universal pick.
- Duriel’s Burrow: Evade becomes a damage and crowd-control tool. You burrow underground, deal damage, and root enemies. Feels fun, but the long cooldown is a trade-off.
B-Tier
Image via BlizzardThese Boss Powers are fine, but they often only work in specific builds or just don’t offer as much as higher-tier options.
- Harbinger of Hatred’s Volley: Sounds strong on paper — it makes enemies vulnerable and shoots fire projectiles — but it's a bit clunky to trigger in real-time.
- Belial’s Eye Beams: Activates when you use a healing potion. Reduces damage, spawns beams. It can be handy in PvP or burst phases but isn’t great in long fights.
- Sinerat’s Flames: Gives you a small burn effect when you use movement skills. Good in a fast-paced elemental build, but not a top choice.
- Varshan’s Life Steal: Heals you with a beam that latches to the nearest enemy. Feels a bit passive and slow, but might help in tanky builds.
- Belial’s Crystal Decoy: Using defensive or utility skills creates a taunting crystal that explodes. Nice idea, but enemies don’t always take the bait.
C-Tier
Image via BlizzardThese might be fun to mess around with, but they don’t really hold up in tougher content or against bosses.
- Flesh Reaper’s Disruption: Removes Vulnerable and stuns instead. Problem is, you often want enemies to stay Vulnerable for the damage boost.
- Allek’s Talons: Just adds sparking damage to Basic Skills. It’s okay early on, but doesn’t scale well into the late game.
- Blackmailer’s Sabotage: If you use Barrier a lot, this knocks enemies down when using Core Skills. Doesn’t hit hard, and the knockdown isn’t long enough to matter.
- Kirma’s Sparks: It does lightning damage when you Evade. Fun for zap builds, but low impact overall.
D-Tier
Image via BlizzardThese powers just don’t bring enough value. You’re better off using almost anything else unless you’re experimenting.
- Outlaw Sharpshooter’s Eye: Slows enemies at a distance and gives slight damage boosts. Maybe good in PvP, but otherwise underwhelming.
- Beast in the Ice’s Sleet: Triggers after applying lots of crowd control. It’s tough to set up, and the payoff isn’t worth it most of the time.
- Skerg’s Toxins: When enemies apply DoT to you, they take poison damage. Feels more reactive than useful, and the heal chance is low.
- Beastmaster’s Training: Helps summons stun enemies and tank more. It could be fun in a pet build, but those builds aren’t strong right now.
- Hatred’s Embrace’s Haste: Buffs movement and crit based on Shadow Resistance. Too much setup for not much reward.
