January 15th was originally set as the conclusion of the Crownfall Saga. However, after witnessing the community's passionate efforts to collect the final tokens and candy re-roll rewards, Valve decided to extend the event by three more weeks.
February 6th has now been confirmed as the new end date for the Crownfall update. Valve shared the news in their official blog post titled Crownfall's Final Blow.
The Crownfall event was one of the most highly anticipated sagas in Dota 2 lore. It dives into the emotional and tragic love story of Dragonus (Skywrath Mage) and Shendelzare (Vengeful Spirit).
It also sheds light on how these two iconic heroes received their Arcanas.
The event featured four acts, with each act unlocking progressively over time. Players joined Skywrath Mage and Vengeful Spirit in their quest to overthrow the merciless tyrant, Queen Imperia, in a tale filled with betrayal, vengeance, and epic battles.
Although teased for some time, the event officially debuted in April 2024.
During the event, two new heroes, Ringmaster and Kezwere also introduced and added to the game.
Upon its initial release, the Crownfall event received mixed reactions. Many players felt the event didn’t offer enough content to match the hype.
Initially, the update included the much-anticipated arcanas for Skywrath Mage and Vengeful Spirit, but that was the extent of the excitement for many fans.
However, just one weekend after its launch, players stumbled upon the wealth of content for the event.
Although some of the new features were hidden behind a paywall, much of the content was free for all players to enjoy.
The event included a range of rewards, including exclusive skins, which helped reignite players’ interest.
The mini-games indulge the players' interest and excitement. However, it was the Candyworks Caravan, in which players were more focused.
It allowed players to trade in candies for unique rewards, including the chance to receive Arcanas and exclusive skins.
This system added an extra layer of engagement, giving players more reason to participate in the event and keep grinding for those coveted prizes.
At its peak, the Crownfall update brought in nearly 300,000 players back to Dota 2.
This surprising announcement sparked mixed reactions within the Dota 2 community.
While some players expressed frustration over the extension, the majority welcomed Valve's decision, appreciating the extra time to earn rewards and fully experience the event.
Valve has remained tight-lipped about what’s coming next. Many players are eagerly speculating and hoping for a new patch to shake things up.
One of the most anticipated changes is the long-awaited fix for the ongoing MMR inflation issue in Dota 2.
Fans are hopeful that Valve’s next update will address this concern, along with introducing fresh content to keep the game exciting for the player base.
