The tides have changed, and we have new faces, at least in our terminology, crushing it in the tournament. Natus Vincere and OG have secured their places in the semi-finals of BLAST SLAM VI Malta, after a powerful performance in the group stage, and are guaranteed a top-4 finish in the tournament.
Both teams finished the group stage with identical 7-4 scores, but NAVI’s victory over OG secured them the top spot. They navigated the gruesome group stage and defeated the heavyweights like Team Falcons and Tundra Esports in the process.
However, both suffered defeat against HEROIC and Team Spirit. They were unable to decode the complexities against these teams and fairly struggled to execute their strategies.
Meanwhile, Team Liquid, Tundra Esports, Team Yandex, Team Falcons, Xtreme Gaming and Team Spirit find themselves in the Play-In stage after failing to secure the top two spots. The first half of the Play-In stage bracket is set, while Team Liquid and Tundra Esports await their opponents from the Last Chance Playoffs stage.
This is also the first time Tundra Esports, the most dominant team in BLAST SLAM history, has failed to secure a semi-final spot.
Heading into the Last Chance Playoffs, four teams will battle for the final two Play-In spots. HEROIC takes on REKONIX, while GamerLegion faces MOUZ. Three teams, except MOUZ, are the lone representatives for their respective regions.
The Last Chance Playoffs begin today, and we’ll witness the first set of eliminations. Which teams will fight to live another day? Which teams will bid adieu? We’ll find out soon enough.
