Tundra Esports have done it again. Their dominance at BLAST Slam events continues with a historic third consecutive title at Slam IV: Singapore. With this victory, Tundra have cemented their legacy as the most storied team in BLAST history, appearing in four straight grand finals and winning three of them.
They faced the mighty Team Falcons in the grand final, in front of a packed arena at the Singapore Indoor Stadium, with the crowd going absolute bonkers after witnessing all the action unfold live in front of their eyes.
Both teams secured top-two finishes in the group stage and advanced directly to the semi finals, thanks to BLAST’s rewarding format for Slam events. Tundra defeated MOUZ and Falcons defeated HEROIC to set up a clash in the grand final.
It was an evenly contested series, with both teams trading wins back and forth. However, the real twist came in the fourth game, where Team Falcons appeared to finally gain control. With a Divine Rapier on Skiter, Falcons ravaged through Tundra’s defenses, destroyed the tier-4 towers and attacked the throne in what seemed like a sure shot victory.
But what followed was the turning point of the game. After the ill-fated team fight that nearly saw Team Falcons on the verge of winning the tournament, Tundra bought back and made some clutch plays. They not only managed to defend their ancient, but also nearly wiped out Team Falcons, especially their cores, setting the stage for a monumental comeback.
Having secured Skiter’s Divine Rapier, Tundra immediately pooled all its remaining resources and marched straight into Falcons’ base. Falcons, trying to fend off Tundra’s attack, bought back on some heroes, but were unable to ward off the latter’s attack, especially with a Divine Rapier on Pure’s Morphling.
With everything on the line in the final game, the drafting phase delivered a surprise: identical picks and bans in the exact same order, something seen only once before in Dota 2 history. The game lasted for about 56 minutes, with Tundra Esports securing the victory on the back off a dominant performance on 33’s Timbersaw.
It was a fitting grand finale, with the series going the distance and every moment coming down to the wire. It also marked the first best-of-five series in BLAST history to go the full distance.
Tundra Esports wins BLAST Slam IV: Singapore and becomes the first team to win three consecutive Slam events.
