Team Yandex are your BLAST Slam VII Champions!
You heard that right. They emerged victorious over LGD Gaming to lift the trophy at the seventh edition of BLAST Slam, held in Copenhagen, Denmark.
After a disappointing group stage that tied them for fourth place and saw them miss out on a direct semifinal berth, Team Yandex had to battle their way through the playoffs, defeating Aurora Gaming and LGD Gaming in the upper bracket before setting up a clash with BetBoom Team in the upper bracket final.
They defeated BetBoom after a disastrous game one that ended in under 30 minutes. However, they bounced back quickly to win the series and advance to the grand finals. The deciding game was a thriller, stretching over 60 minutes, with both teams trading blows from start to finish.
They faced the ex-HEROIC lineup, now playing under the LGD banner, in the grand finals. The South American squad denied BetBoom a rematch against Team Yandex in the grand finals by handing them a 2:1 defeat in the lower bracket finals.
The grand finals were a rather quiet affair. The grand final stretched to four games, with Team Yandex delivering a decisive victory against LGD Gaming.
Yandex won the first two games to get a good head start in their campaign against LGD. However, LGD won the third game, hoping to bridge the gap with Team Yandex. But Yandex wrapped up the series in the fourth game with a phenomenal display of dominance.
They outpaced LGD in every aspect, with Watson and DM going bonkers, leaving the South Americans with no hope but to call it quits. The final game tally was 29:6 in favour of Team Yandex as they won their first BLAST SLAM title.
Congratulations to Team Yandex on a spectacular victory.
