Dota 2 is one of the most complex games out there. If you're new to the game, this factor can intimidate you. However, the game also features some simple heroes.
Among them is Jakiro, a ranged intelligence support hero who provides a stun, AOE crowd control, and a high team fight impact. He also offers his laning partner a strong presence in the lane, and Jakiro does not require complex mechanics or fast reflexes. These factors make him one of the most beginner-friendly heroes for players who want to try the support role.
Sounds like a perfect hero, right? Perfect! That’s why we’ve created this beginner-friendly Jakiro guide to help players get started. We'll cover everything a player needs to know about mastering this twin-headed dragon.
Whether they're a newbie to Dota or just looking for a reliable support to climb the MMR ladder, Jakiro is a must-have hero in their pool. Without further ado, let's dive into this beginner-friendly Jakiro Dota 2 guide!
Players might be wondering what makes Jakiro beginner-friendly. Well, for starters, Jakiro is a low-risk hero, but he's extremely high reward. His abilities, which are simple to use, give his core a strong laning stage, and in the late game, their effectiveness does not waver.
Jakiro is one of the those supports that scale well as the game progresses.Even as a support, he can take towers with ease. He can bail his cores out of a sticky situation thanks to his natural itemisation, his slows and stuns.
As we've mentioned above, the abilities of Jakiro are one of the factors which make the twin-headed dragon one of the beginner-friendly support heroes in Dota 2. His abilities are easy to understand and straightforward to use. Nevertheless, these abilities behave differently depending on the facet players choose.
His Twin Terror facet allows his double attacks to deal more damage. The double attacks come from his third abilities, Liquid Fire and Liquid Frost.
The Ice Breaker facet of Jakiro affects his second ability, Ice Path, which is a long-range stun. With this facet, Jakiro's Ice Path lasts longer and detonates upon expiration, which deals damage and stuns enemies caught in it for a second time. The twin-headed dragon can also detonate Ice Path manually if it wants to destroy the Ice Path early.
Dota 2 Jakiro's ultimate ability without Aghanim's Scepter.Dual Breath is Jakiro's first ability. Thanks to this ability, it allows him to slow the attack speed and the movement speed of his opponents. Consequently, it's a powerful tool during the laning stage as it can be used both defensively and offensively.
Liquid Fire and Liquid Frost are his third abilities. Liquid Fire allows Jakiro to deal damage per second whilst slowing the attack speed of the opponent. It can also be used to take towers quickly. Liquid Frost also deals damage per second, but it only slows the opponent. Additionally, Liquid Frost increases the damage taken from Jakiro's attacks and abilities.
Jakiro's upgraded ultimate with Aghanim's Scepter.Macropyre is Jakiro's ultimate ability. It's a point-targeted ability, which deals damage per second to any opponents that get caught in its path. This ability can be upgraded by Aghanim's Scepter to deal pure damage. In late-game skirmishes, the pure damage it provides when upgraded with Aghs will often get the opponents off guard, which can incinerate them.
In Dota 2, itemisation can be the most daunting task for newcomers. Moreover, the itemising for support heroes can even challenge seasoned players. Fortunately, Jakiro's itemisation is simple, making him a beginner-friendly hero.
At the start of the game, Jakiro can usually pick up Tango and a Ring of Basilius. It's wise to also buy a couple of sentry wards to block the opponent's pull and unblock the team's pull camp.
For Boots, Jakiro can choose between Arcane Boots – to spam his abilities off cooldown or Tranquil Boots to help him sustain on the lane. Afterwards, players would often opt for Force Staff on Jakiro as it can help him and his teammates get out of sticky situations or put the opponents in sticky situations if they misstep.
As the game progresses, both types of boots can be upgraded: Arcane Boots into Guardian Greaves for added healing, and Tranquil Boots into Boots of Bearing for increased movement and attack speed for allies.
Glimmer Cape is one of the most crucial pick-ups for Jakiro. With relatively cheap cost, the perks that this item offers – magic resistance and invisibility to save himself or a teammate are unprecedented.
Eul’s Scepter is also an excellent item choice for Jakiro. Not only does it allow him to dispel annoying spells, but it also lets him set up perfect Ice Path combos on his opponents. This item can also be upgraded to Wind Walker as the game progresses to save himself or an ally.
As a third or fourth item, an investment in Aghanim's Scepter can pay dividends. The upgrade it provides for Macropyre can be game-defining. In crucial late-game skirmishes, well-placed Macropyre plays can make a difference between victory and defeat. Refresher Orb is a common item on Jakiro to round off the build.
Sometimes, players will also opt to pick up situational items like Scythe of Vyse, Aeon Disk, and Ethereal Blade.
In the current Patch 7.38c, the twin-headed dragon is one of the strongest supports of the meta. Not only is Jakiro beginner-friendly friendly but thanks to his abilities, this hero is enjoying a solid win rate. In high-level and professional matches, he is one of the most contested support heroes. His ability to have a massive impact regardless of any stage of the game remains his biggest strength in Dota 2.
