The penultimate day of the DreamLeague S23 Playoffs concluded in style as the tournament narrowed down with only three teams remaining in contention for the Dota 2 title.
Let’s take a look at how the series unfolded:
The penultimate day of the DreamLeague S23 Playoffs started with an encounter between two Chinese giants, Xtreme Gaming (XG) vs. Azure Ray (AR).
In a thrilling three-game series, AR emerged victorious in the first game, a marathon that stretched past 60 minutes.
However, XG sprinted back with dominant performances in the following two games, both decided within 34 minutes. Their decisive victories secured their spot in the lower bracket semi-final against BetBoom.
Another team to benefit from the new patch is BetBoom. They struck an entirely different chord after their dismal performance at PGL Wallachia S1. On the other end of the spectrum, Xtreme Gaming is still struggling to comfortably adapt to the meta.
XG had no answer to BB’s aggression as the latter seemed to have a superior understanding of the meta between the two. BB won and secured a lower bracket finals spot against Team Falcons.
Heavyweights Gaimin Gladiators and Team Falcons waged war in the DreamLeague S23 upper bracket finals, both vying for a grand finals spot. The Gladiators, revitalised by the new Dota 2 Patch 7.36, found themselves a step ahead of the Falcons.
They ensured the Falcons’ wings were clipped, not allowing them to take flight, thus sending them down to the lower bracket finals. They now face a resurgent BetBoom.
Falcons meet Gaimin Gladiators in the Lower Bracket final at 12.00 CEST today.
Patch 7.36 seems tailor-made for Gaimin Gladiators, suiting their aggressive and methodical playstyle, as they have dispatched every opponent with ruthless efficiency.
However, their path to glory isn’t complete as the final hurdle remains to be overcome.
Team Falcons seek vengeance, whereas BetBoom seek redemption, as both teams are eager to prove themselves. But who will emerge victorious in the battle between the two? The booming Boom or the clipped Falcons.
One thing is certain: this series will be exciting to watch as the games are expected to be intense.
