Day 2 of the DreamLeague S23 Playoffs encountered a major ISP outage for some teams. The incident caused significant delays and ultimately led to the controversial elimination of two teams: Aurora and Heroic.
Aurora and Heroic faced an ISP outage resulting in their unfortunate elimination from DreamLeague S23. Aurora was pitted against BetBoom Team in the first elimination series on Day 2 of the DreamLeague S23 Playoffs.
The first two games of the series ran smoothly, but a city-wide ISP outage crippled Aurora in game 3. Unfortunately, despite an extended pause time, the outage showed no signs of immediate resolution, prompting the tournament organizers to make a difficult decision.
As a result, Aurora had to unwillingly forfeit their decider match against BetBoom, thus resulting in their unfortunate elimination from DreamLeague S23.
Hit by the same ISP outage that struck Aurora, Heroic also forfeited their first game against Azure Ray.
Being handicapped against an outcome not in their hands, Heroic battled for 66 minutes in a thrilling game 2 against the Chinese team but fell short, ultimately being eliminated from DreamLeague S23.
Ultimately, it was a heartbreaking day for both Aurora and Heroic with a technical knockout that saw them exit DreamLeague S23.
The European squad's struggles with the new meta show no signs of stopping. Tundra's DreamLeague S23 run ended in a swift 2-0 defeat to BetBoom, eliminating them from the Dota 2 tournament.
Their signature playstyle seems to have hit a roadblock under the new patch. Similar to their upper bracket thrashing by Gaimin Gladiators (games averaging a mere 28 minutes), Tundra found themselves outmaneuvered by BetBoom.
Can they adapt to Dota 2 Patch 7.36 before their playstyle goes on ice?
The show must go on as Day 3 of DreamLeague S23 Playoffs is upon us. We’ve three exciting series lined up, with guaranteed two eliminations. Let’s take a look:
