Dota 2 Patch 7.36 introduces two groundbreaking features: Innate Abilities and Hero Facets, adding a new twist to the ever-changing meta.
Without further ado, here’s a break-up of the latest Dota 2 gameplay patch 7.36.
With the new patch 7.36, every hero in Dota 2 now possesses a unique Innate ability, an intrinsic power active from the very beginning of each match. These built-in skills add a new layer of depth and strategic consideration.
Innate abilities offer a spectrum of gameplay-altering effects. Let’s consider two examples:
Innate ability example - Dawnbreaker: Dawnbreaker reveals the whole map to allies when the sun rises, granting a strategic vision advantage. This is one of the Innate abilities which grants a hero a unique effect.
Innate ability example Kunkka: Kunkka’s Tidebringer now starts at level 1, and can further be upgraded an additional four times like normal, thus giving a free ability point at level 1.
Facets are a hero customization choice that empowers you to tailor your hero’s playstyle to the match and your preferences. During the crucial strategy phase, you can choose between at least two Facets for your chosen hero.
Facets offer a range of impactful effects, significantly altering how you approach the game from boosting damage to increasing defensive buffs or summoning allies.
Let’s consider two examples of Hero Facets:
Example 1: As mentioned earlier, Facets in Dota 2's new patch 7.36 are specific to heroes, with each hero having two facets. A Dota player must choose the facet they prefer during strategy time.
In the above image, Viper has two hero facets: adding an AoE damage burst to Poison Attack, or increasing defensive buffs while Viper remains in Nethertoxin.
Example 2: Wraith King can choose between two facets: summoning skeletons, or dealing additional curse damage when attacking.
Facets are set for all players after the strategy time and cannot be changed during a match.
Dota Facet choices aren't revealed to the enemy team until after the game begins. Discover Facets on the hero page, hover the new icon, or check the scoreboard and top bar (Alt key).
The introduction of these two new mechanics packs a punch, however, Dota 2 Patch 7.36 goes beyond Innates and Facets. Now it’s time for the gameplay update.
