In Dota 2, couriers are more than mere item delivery tools – they represent a statement of style and prestige. The game has progressed from featuring a single courier for a team of five to providing individual couriers for all players. Thanks to special effects such as custom particles, some couriers stand out due to their distinctive designs and hefty price tags.
Here's a look at some of the best and most expensive couriers that have captured the hearts (and wallets) of players.
Unveiled during the Diretide event in 2013, Platinum Baby Roshan is a collector's dream. This adorable courier, modeled after the fearsome Roshan, who for good reason literally throws heroes who dare cross his path in the new patch, is a symbol of exclusivity.
Its rarity and unique design make it one of the most sought-after couriers, with prices soaring to $2,000 or more.
There are also different variants to the Roshan series like the Golden Baby Roshan, Jade Baby Roshan, etc., some of which are listed in this article that count as collectibles (ranging from $2,000 to $4,000) – not to mention are some of the best and most expensive couriers in Dota 2.
Another variant of the Baby Roshan series, the Desert Sands Baby Roshan is renowned for its distinctive particle effects. Released in 2017, this courier is a favourite among players who value both aesthetics and rarity.
Now let’s talk about the price. Dare to guess?
Well, the Desert Sands Baby Roshan is one of the best and the most expensive couriers in Dota 2, priced at a whopping $14,000! Insane right?
The Dark Moon Baby Roshan is one of the rarest and most expensive couriers in Dota 2. More importantly, it is not available for purchase from the market because it was part of the Dark Moon event in 2017, during which it could be unboxed while spinning the reward wheel.
Akin to its name, the courier has dark particle effects with a heavy dark purple theme covering its entire body.
And it costs north of $11,000!
An apt entry for the best and most expensive couriers in Dota 2 right?
Thanks to the Defense 2, joinDOTA’s then flagship tournament during the early Dota 2 days, Legacy Enduring War Dog courier has made a name for itself as one of the best and most expensive couriers in Dota 2.
During the early days, tournaments used to have tickets available for purchase, and plenty of times it came with a set of rewards – unique couriers, hero sets, etc. – to incentivise the fans. But the Legacy Enduring War Dog, especially with its red particles around the eyes and unique textures, made it a collectible.
The low supply for the same gives it a hefty price tag of a well-deserved (?) $4,000.
For Doom fans, the Golden Doomling courier is a must-have. Introduced during The International 2014, this courier combines the menacing aura of Doom with a touch of elegance. Its golden variant is priced at around $80, making it a luxurious yet slightly more affordable option.
While it's not exactly the most expensive courier, it can certainly make it to the list as one of the best given its appealing looks.
This treasure chest on legs has been a fan favorite since its debut in The International 2012. Valve graciously, well not too graciously, handed out these couriers in the form of physical cards (like the Pokemon ones) to those attending the crown jewel event in Seattle.
As one of the attendees, I was lucky to get my hands on a few of them, including the Unusual Lockjaw the Boxhound, which is both cute and functional, with its unusual variants fetching prices of approximately $100.
It is certainly one of the best looking couriers, if not expensive, in the game currently.
Whether you're a collector or a casual player, Dota 2 couriers offer something for everyone. From the adorable Baby Roshan series to the quirky Unusual Lockjaw the Boxhound, these couriers let you flaunt your unique style.
