Vitality suffered a disappointing loss to Virtus.pro in their opening game here at BLAST Premier Spring Final presented by Revolut after dominant map one and capitulation on map two.
A deflated XTQZZZ told us after the game that the team "threw it away like in Dallas", but how exactly did Vitality give their opponents the route back into the game?
Vitality got off to a strong start on Inferno and ZywOo was hitting all of his shots - even the ones where he couldn't actually see his opponent.
With the score 8-4 in Vitality's favour at the half, a long tech pause may have taken the wind out of their sales, but they continued just as strong in the second half to take the map 13-5.
Virtus.pro looked to be starting Dust II strong, but a 2v5 from ZywOo and apEX gave the French organisation an early lead.
They continued strong, maintaining their composure with the clock ticking to take the score to 7-4.
Momentum stayed in their favour too, Vitality had the game in their hands as they won their eleventh round.
Sadly for them, that was also the exact moment that electroNic decided to wake up.
With the game getting away from Vitality, VP levelled the scoreline after a ridiculous play from Jame.
They then closed it out 13-11, sinking the hearts of Vitality and leaving XTQZZZ confused as to what he had just witnessed.
"We need to understand why we got so scared to do some moves on CT side on Dust II. We tried to get back into the game, but you know how it is. I don't know why we didn't make a decision to sometimes gamble and play together. We were just blind, I would say." - XTQZZZ
Oh, and by the way, they closed it out with an incredible fame 1v3 ace clutch.
With momentum firmly going their way, VP opened up Anubis with a 9-3 T side.
It wasn't until the game was 6-0 in favour of VP that Vitality managed to register their first round.
The game continued going the way of VP, although, with a massive lead for series point, they almost managed to let Vitality back into the game. However, unlike VP, Vitality couldn't complete their comeback and the game ended 13-10.
"We tried to make the comeback but we failed. It is what it is." - XTQZZZ
With Vitality now unexpectedly in the lower bracket, we asked XTQZZZ if there was any concern about an early exit. His answer was short:
"We will see." - XTQZZZ
