After breaking through with Copenhagen Flames, Zyphon has since faded into the background while his former teammates all had tier one opportunities.
Granted a chance to shine in tier one by Heroic, Zyphon was a key part of their efforts at Fall Final and World Final, although he didn't reach his goal of playing in an arena.
After Heroic's elimination from World Final, we caught up with the youngster to talk about his time with the team.
Your time with Heroic has now come to an end, maybe the events haven't gone as you would have liked them to, but how are you feeling afterwards?
I don't know. I didn't manage to get into the arena at either event, which is pretty disappointing. I don't know, it should have been better, I guess. Today we played against a team that also has a stand-in, and we should do more damage I think. It is what it is and we can't hang on to it, just move on.
What about from an individual standpoint? How are you feeling about the performances you put in?
In both games here I had a very good first map but we still lost pretty big. The second maps were a little shaky I think, I didn't get the best starts. I think it went okay, but it could have gone a lot better as well. I don't really know why I start playing worse in the second maps, maybe that's something I have to figure out on my own.
You told us before that you were hoping this opportunity would be a chance to prove your worth in tier one, do you feel like you've done that?
On an individual level, I think I did, but not teamwise. Of course, we only had seven days of practice coming here, one map per pracc day, which was super hard. But, we can't expect to win when we have two stand-ins and a new IGL in TeSeS who is figuring out how to do stuff, it was harder to play as a team as well. Individually though, I think I've made my mark.
We spoke at the start of your time with Heroic about what you were hoping to learn while with the team, now that you're at the end of your time with them, what have you learned?
I think the biggest thing was the atmosphere. In this team, there's more praise for when people had good rounds or good communication, people always point it out. That was the biggest thing and it was always really happy, people weren't down when we lost a round it was always just "nice try, we'll get the next one" and that was the biggest difference, and something I would 100% take on to Sprout and the teams to come.
So what's next for you in 2024?
I'm not sure, but I think time will tell.
But we'll see you in arenas in 2024?
Hopefully yes. I'll train hard and do what I can.
