Everyone was focused on m0NESY's travel in the run-up to G2 and Vitality's elimination match at BLAST Premier Spring Final presented by Revolut but in the end, it mattered for very little.
It took three maps for Vitality to get the win and secure mezii his spot in Friday's quarter-finals, but the UK crowd will be happy as they now get to cheer on their king.
The first map was a quick affair, Vitality had it wrapped up inside 20 rounds with a 13-4 scoreline.
It was a shame it went that way though, m0NESY made it clear early on that he didn't want it to be a quick trip.
huNter- heard him too, but sadly he just didn't have enough in him to keep G2 in the game even with his 16 kills.
G2 were down, but not out, and they raced to a quick lead on Anubis thanks to some heroic plays.
And the hero plays didn't stop there, huNter- and m0NESY put the hurt to Vitality from a disadvantaged situation.
Vitality managed to pull the game close, but a great flash from m0NESY proved to be the straw that broke the camel's back as NiKo sprayed down three and G2 converted their lead to a 13-9 win.
Mirage was a surprise decider given G2's recent reluctance to play the map, but it turned out to be a decider that was massively favourable to Vitality.
The BLAST.tv Paris Major winners quickly built up a big lead, and this A site hold from apEX only served to further their dominance.
From there it was a whitewash, G2 managed just one more round before Vitality swept them up for a 13-5 victory.
