2023 was closed out with a bang at BLAST Premier World Final in Abu Dhabi, but that wasn't the only excitement Counter-Strike fans got to experience at the end of the year.
Thanks to some of the world's best teams, we also got to enjoy a transfer scramble with plenty of the teams at the top making changes.
In case you missed any of these moves, allow us to get you all caught up in time for the first season of 2024.
The most exciting transfers came as a triangle made by Falcons, ENCE, and Heroic.
With Snappi having already left ENCE for Falcons before BLAST Premier World Final, new ENCE coach kuben raised eyebrows during the event following this electric quote:
"I would love to work with a group of people that are eager to play for the org and for this lineup, but it's not happening yet." - kuben
The quote, which followed this report from Dust2.dk seemed to suggest that Heroic would soon be profiting massively from ENCE's instability, but there was still another twist in the tale.
Whilst it was reported that sAw, Nertz, SunPayus, and maden would all become Heroic players, Falcons had other ideas.
Heroic would still secure the services of coach sAw and rifler Nertz, but SunPayus and maden would join up with the former leader Snappi at Falcons.
This left both Heroic and ENCE in a scramble, and the two teams took very different routes to solve their issues.
In the case of ENCE, they secured an RMR slot by signing a trio of players from Polish squad 9INE. hades, Kylar, and Goofy all joined, linking up with their compatriot dycha and new IGL gla1ve to form a roster that could prove to be a solid underdog in the early months of 2024.
The incoming trio were a force to be reckoned with in 2023, although they lacked a true star. With gla1ve and dycha now by their sides those problems have surely been solved, and they'll be one to watch for sure.
As for Heroic, alongside sAw and Nertz, they would continue down the international team road with the signings of nicoodoz from Preasy and kxysan from Apeks.
Two exciting changes, given their respective performances in tier two in the last year, Heroic will also please their fans by retaining a strong tie to their Danish roots.
Following all of these changes, the three rosters are as follows:
Due to mezii's move to Vitality, fnatic chose to refresh their lineup in the first season of 2024. dexter also left the team, returning home to Greyhound, while roeJ departed earlier to link back up with former coach vorborg at Preasy.
A new IGL was found in the form of French veteran bodyy, who, alongside KRIMZ, will provide excellent stability for their new team.
Completing the team are MATYS and kyuubii, two prodigies who fanatic will be hoping can take them to new heights in 2024.
The fnatic roster is now as follows:
With frozen leaving MOUZ for FaZe just before World Final, MOUZ are still without a fifth player.
There are currently no reports as to who they will be signing, although given how they performed with Brollan at the World Final, there's reason to be excited for whoever they pick up and the future of this young team.
BLAST partner team OG are also currently without a fifth player. This follows two departures from the team as FASHR was benched and nexa left to re-join G2.
Unlike MOUZ, OG have already signed a player, Nexius, and ironically, he joined from MOUZ's academy team, MOUZ NXT.
Coached by kassad, BLEED will be looking to make a huge impact on the Counter-Strike scene in 2024.
They're going the right way about it, too, building a roster filled with both experience and youthful hunger.
The full BLEED roster is as follows:
Although they aren't full roster rebuilds, two big names have found new homes within the last month.
Following his surprise departure from Cloud9, sh1ro's next move was hotly anticipated. One of the best AWPers in the world, it was eventually announced that he would be joining Spirit, and he will now link up with one of the game's most exciting young prospects, donk.
Legendary player dupreeh also has a new home. After the end of his short-term deal with Heroic, the five-time CS:GO, Major winner, has joined Preasy, giving a true winning quality to one of the best tier-two teams around right now.
Rounding out our transfer roundup is the return of a legendary Counter-Strike name: CPH Wolves.
An organisation that featured in the very first Major of CS:GO, Dreamhack Winter 2013, their roster then included the likes of device, dupreeh, and Xyp9x.
Although their new roster may not make the very first Major in CS2, we wouldn't be surprised to see them make one in the future. Packed full of young talent, their new team is as follows:
BLAST ApS., Hauser Plads 1, 3., 1127 Copenhagen
