With day four of BLAST Premier Spring Final 2023 having reached it's conclusion, we now know the two teams that will battling it out in the final.
The two teams many people expected to have been in the Major final, they will now have one last chance for both to stake a claim for who is the better team at the closing of the season.
But how did we get here? Let's recap the events of the semi finals.
The surprise package of the tournament, Imperial will have earned themselves the respect of many for their performances here in D.C.
Having displayed a tremendous Overpass versus Vitality and Complexity, they picked the map again in their semi-final, although Heroic would prove to be a bridge too far. JOTA and FalleN both performed well, but they couldn't match the overall strength of the Danes as the map finished 16-13.
Imperial bounced back on Inferno thanks to a masterclass from VINI. The former FURIA star had an exceptional 1v3 which included a smoke defuse and knife to cadiaN after the defusal. His 32 kills propelled Imperial, forcing Heroic onto what would prove to be an uncomfortable third map.
While we've already stated Nuke was an uncomfortable experience for Heroic, that shouldn't have been the case as they lead 11-4 at half time. With the scoreline at one time being 15-7 as they looked to close out the series with ease, complacency kicked in and Imperial picked up momentum to force OT. Heroic would ultimately wrestle back control, and the series ended with the Danes winning 19-17.
As the reigning Major Champions thanks to their exploits at the BLAST.tv Paris Major, Vitality had a lot to live up to here at Spring Final. While they may have struggled on day one, their latest win against G2 is yet another reassurance to their status at the summit of the CS:GO world.
A real team performance, it took until map two for Vitality to get going as a strong T side from G2 gave the HooXi-led team an early advantage in the series. jks and m0NESY looked strong, helping their team nullify the impact of Vitality's stars.
Things turned around very quickly on Inferno. With a dominant CT side showing, Vitality entered halftime with a 12-3, arguably a surprise considering the T-favoured meta of the map in recent months. G2 couldn't recreate that strong CT showing, and Vitality found themselves pushing the series to a third map as they ended Inferno at 16-9.
Criticised of late for some of his performances in crunch games, it was NiKo who stepped up for G2 in map three, Nuke. He racked up 30 kills, more than anyone else on the server, but this was made redundant by the superb showings of Magisk and Spinx who got themselves 27 and 22 kills respectively. An exciting game, Vitality took the series after winning 16-12 on Nuke.
