Valve have a habit of dropping big changes when we least expect it, and just as we thought they might be more focused on... other projects, they dropped a bomb last night.
Alright, in the grand scheme of things this wasn't a massive update, but there's enough in there to fix quite a few things that people had issues with - and perhaps some they didn't.
The big changes to Vertigo all come on the A site, where a new walkway has been added behind the 'Headshot' box on the site, allowing CTs a new angle to watch Ramp from, especially with an AWP. It also means Ts have a new post-plant spot that is safe from 'nade stacks.
The other big change is the opening up of the 'Elevator' area from Short, where there's another entrance into the site and into Elevator. Similarly, the connecting room from Heaven to Elevator no longer exists.
This should make the site a bit less claustrophobic, as CTs can reasonably play a lot more spots. A player inside of Elevator is no longer stuck trying to squeeze out of a doorway with the rotators.
Some questions might be asked as to why Vertigo was being changed while in the map pool with Overpass completely removed instead, which we would suggest is... a fair question, actually.
The T side now get $200 less for planting the bomb if it doesn't go off, which is a pretty big boon for CT sides who defuse the bomb on the pistol round. No more five Galil buys after planting the bomb on the pistol, unless you save a little bit more or you all get a kill and somehow let them defuse.
This is, invariably, a good change for most of us. Those buys were a nightmare for CT sides, and basically meant they never got a good buy for about four rounds in a row afterwards.
The M4A4 is also $100 cheaper, which is a pretty nice change for those who like to spray bullets and make noise.
The CTs also have a cheaper incendiary - just $500 - but it's also weaker. It spreads much less, and lasts for a full second and a half less than it used to.
This one is... more divisive. It's cheaper, which is obviously quite nice, but the diminished ability to cut off rushes due to the lower space covered make it feel a bit awkward to use.
