Day three of BLAST Premier Fall Groups was debut day and although Cloud9 may have fell short in their debut versus FaZe, Liquid won against Virtus.pro in emphatic fashion.
Map one needed three overtimes in order to find a victor before Liquid dominated the second, so let's take a look at the highlights from the series.
Liquid got off to a fine start on map one with an opening pistol win and it didn't take long for new signing jks to activate. The Aussie icon had 5-0 kills by the time round two was over.
Virtus.pro kept the game close, however, and new Liquid coach mithR had some words for his team to keep them focused.
Those words of encouragement did their job, too. Twistzz looked confident as he pulled off a great 1v3.
It was a round that took the wind out of VP's sails, and Liquid eventually ended the half with an 8-4 lead.
Their start to the second half was a little slower, allowing Liquid to close the gap by one round to 10-7, but jks was on hand again to shut down the A assault by the Russian side.
Liquid quickly took map point off the back of jks' heroics but Jame was sure to keep his team in the game with a clean 1v2.
VP won five in a row after that clutch to force OT and they looked set for a sixth until NAF and ultimate both picked up multi-kills in defence of the A bombsite.
Despite their big plays, VP still managed to close out the first half of OT with the advantage, but it could have gone either way with this awkward fight towards B.
The rounds kept swinging back and forth as we headed into a third overtime with fights getting messier and messier. However, this turned out to be the perfect playground for ultimate as he thrived in OT and was a constant thorn in VP's side.
He kept going too, hitting some insane shots in Red Room to keep Liquid moving on their T side.
That round proved to be the straw that broke the camels back and Liquid closed out the game 22-20. A perfect showcase of why Liquid picked him up, ultimate went from 11-14 in regulation to 31-26 by the time the map was over.
Unlike Ancient it was VP who started best on Dust2 and Jame picked up four in a B site post plant to give his team another round.
Liquid quickly turned the game around as they brought the score back to 5-4 and Twistzz kept that streak alive with an AWP on Long.
7-5 at the half, Liquid kept their strong form going and although round 15 looked to be swinging in VP's favour, Twistzz was on hand to clutch the round against pistols.
Relatively simple from that point onward, Liquid closed out the game 13-6 thanks to 22 kills from their new captain.
