A crazy comeback on Vertigo, characterised by a pixel-perfect m0NESY clutch at 11-10, culminated in a 2-0 win for G2 in their first LAN game with their new line-up.
MOUZ begin life without frozen with defeat, but can take heart in their Vertigo T-side even if things crumbled later on.
Oft-unfairly-maligned IGL HooXi topped the scoreboard on Ancient with 20 kills as he showed his stars how to do it, but it was all about m0NESY on Vertigo.
"I think we didn't play the best, but we still managed to win," a relieved huNter told BLAST.tv.
HooXi started Ancient on fire as he picked up kill after kill and led his team to an early 5-1 lead, but he was quickly doused as MOUZ put up a five round streak to bring the game back into the balance.
MOUZ won and converted the pistol, but after taking a 9-7 lead found themselves locked out of the bombsites, planting the bomb just once in the final seven rounds of the game, and losing six of them.
Jimpphat continued to impress, but MOUZ found themselves short of a little star power elsewhere that might have tipped the scales in their favour.
"We started really bad on CT side, we lost the half 8-4" was huNter's view of the first half of that game, and it's not unfair. MOUZ found themselves the bombsites whenever they wanted it, seemingly, with Jimpphat once more showing off joined by a resurgent Brollan.
MOUZ raced into an 8-2 lead, and even once G2 picked up the last two rounds of the half, a retake from siuhy's boys in the pistol round put them in pole position.
"I think we stepped up individually - especially m0NESY and nexa, they had some amazing rounds" reckoned huNter, and once more it's a fair assessment.
nexa tore holes in the MOUZ defence over and over, finding opening picks and crucial space for his AWPer, who punished MOUZ' insolence any time they overstepped.
G2 collected eight of the next nine rounds and the one round they gave up was after they got onto the site. The nail in the coffin came at 11-10 to G2, where m0NESY's twin lightning flicks ripped the beating hearts out of MOUZ, and victory followed soon after.
