Now a week into the event, it's the beginning of the end for the group stages, and we now know the first team who has earned their place at the BLAST Premier Fall Final.
As well as that, another team has also given themselves their chance of playing in their own group's Group Final and within touching distance of their own spot at Fall Final.
Seeing as that game started first, how about we start there?
G2 picked first, and decided Nuke was the best bet and getting one over on their rivals. To do that against a team like FaZe though, they would need a near-perfect game, and although they won both pistol rounds, their performance was anything but perfect.
ropz and Twistzz were the stars with 23 and 24 kills apiece. Constant threats on both the Ramp and Main positions, they consistently shut down the offense of G2 and prevented them from ever getting a footing in the map.
A map that ended 16-7, considering G2 won both pistols, it should be considered a dominant performance from FaZe. Especially when you consider how strong G2's Nuke has historically been, the result is a statement of intent from FaZe for this season.
Next up was FaZe's map pick of Mirage, where they opened the map with a 6-0 lead. ropz and Twistzz both continued strong, with both of them increasing their kill counts to 26 and 27 kills each. It would take an assist from broky to push them over the line, his 23 kills helped secure the map and series 16-11.
