Complexity have started Counter-Strike 2 exceptionally well, and they continued that strong start at BLAST Premier Fall Final 2023 with a 2-0 win against Danish giants Astralis.
Astralis have been the subject of rumours about their roster recently, which will be used by some as a justification for the loss, but even the most stable of rosters wouldn't have been able to handle Complexity when they're in such a strong vein of form.
Mauisnake called them "contenders" prior to the event, and with a performance like this, it's easy to see why.
Let's take a look at how Complexity defeated Astralis.
Ancient was a strong map for Astralis in the closing months of CS:GO, but that mattered very little as they began life at Fall Final on CS2.
As is usually the case, device and blameF were the highest-performing players for the Danish squad, but they both failed to have the superstar level of impact we are accustomed to as they fell to a 13-9 defeat.
Instead, the superstars on map one were floppy and EliGE. Both men racked up 24 kills as Complexity earned themselves an 11-5 lead.
blameF did have this nice 1v2, though.
Oh, and device also managed to look good with his AWP in Mid, but with the scoreline already reading 11-5, it was too little too late.
Historically the home of Astralis, the Danes looked like they were bouncing back after a 10-2 CT side.
Staehr had a starring role in their domination, he ended the half with a 15-4 statline as he consistently defended the B site.
Mauisnake highlighted "The stability [EliGE] has provided", and it was clear to see what that stability brings during this Mic'd Up segment at 7-2.
Complexity failed to win any of the next five rounds, but with their backs against the wall at 12-2, the NA side got going.
JT was a consistent threat, both holding the B site as well as cluching up on the A site to secure OT. hallzerk also had a big round, he defended the A site well with his AWP to secure a 4k.
OT was a straightforward affair. With momentum fully in their favour, Complexity extended their ten-round-winning streak to 14 and secured the map 16-12.
We guess blameF will be mincing these words...
