There was a lot of excitement surrounding Astralis when they first signed stavn and jabbi - and although things stared brightly at BLAST Premier Spring Groups 2024, things have quickly turned sour.
Following Spring Groups, Astralis finished last place in the IEM Katowice Play-In. Then, they failed to make the PGL Copenhagen Major as they were eliminated from the European Last Chance Qualifier.
In response to these disappointing results, Astralis have announced today that they will be benching IGL blameF intending to make a sale.
blameF joined Astralis in 2021 alongside k0nfig - the duo had previously played together on Complexity.
Signed to be the new star of the team following the departures of dupreeh and Magisk to Vitality, he helped them reach the semi-finals of IEM Cologne 2022.
After becoming the IGL of the team in 2023 following the benching of gla1ve in 2023, blameF would lead Astralis to another 3rd-4th-place finish at IEM Cologne 2023 - his best result while at the helm of the storied organisation.
Despite this, his start to life as the head of the new Danish superteam has far from lived up to expectations, and as a result, he will now be looking for a new home.
In a statement on Twitter, blameF said this:
It is not yet clear who Astralis will turn to to replace their outgoing leader.
Thursday, Astralis have announced the comeback of br0, who played for Astralis Talent in 2023, before he made a move to Monte.
Astralis made significant changes this week: ruggah was appointed head coach, and blameF was benched for potential sale.
br0 have now transferred from Monte to Astralis. Furthermore dev1ce is the new team captain and in-game leader, embracing the role with enthusiasm and a long-term vision.
In a press release, Sports Director Kasper Straube and br0 express their excitement about these strategic moves, emphasizing the positive impact on the team's dynamics and future success.
