Rocket League is one of those games that takes a simple concept and ratchets the skill ceiling up to 11. When games like this do it well, it’s a near-certain hit that has years of playtime ahead of it.
There are still people playing daily nearly ten years after the game first came out, who still find ways to improve their mechanics.
But the game itself is only one of the elements of Rocket League. Like CS:GO, Fortnite, and similar titles, Rocket League has a massive cosmetics market that keeps players coming back in search of finding the best and rarest items in Rocket League.
In the past, the way to get the best items in Rocket League was either to open crates, find someone to trade with, or buy the item on the open market. As of late 2023, that method has changed substantially.
In an effort to Fortnite-ify Rocket League, Epic has pulled away from the CS:GO-style monetization in favor of the Item Shop system they’re more familiar with.
Now, the answer to the question, “How do I get X item?” is almost always going to be “Refresh the Item Shop and wait.” Of course, there are still free items for events and the Rocket Pass, but most active players will obtain these items anyway.
Before recently, the best way to get rare items in Rocket League was from trades or auction houses.
If you had a duplicate rare item, one that you had grown tired of, or a little extra money burning a hole in your pocket, you could hit the trade platforms and upgrade to something new.
The crate system was replaced with Blueprints a few years ago, and in December of 2023, Psyonix and Epic made the move to remove player-to-player trading from the game.
This means that any exclusive items will remain that way forever. If you don’t have that old item from earlier years, you won’t be able to get your hands on it.
This is a player-friendly decision in the long run, as a developer-owned market will help fix the prices and ensure no one is paying hundreds of dollars for rare pixels.
With all of that in mind, let’s take a look at what items remain the most desired in Rocket League despite the fact that new players won’t have access to many of them.
Luckily, though, some of the non-limited-time cars, goal explosions, wheels, and more will still rotate through the item shop and give you a chance to buy them.
For as long as many players can remember, the Titanium White Octane has been one of - if not the - most desired car body in Rocket League. It’s arguably the best-looking variant of one of the best cars in the game, so there’s no secret to why everyone wanted one in their garage.
Since the car was so rare, you’d either need to have been insanely lucky with a blueprint drop, trade up to get it, or buy it for real money on the auction house.
That was until December of 2022, when the official Rocket League Twitter account announced that they were releasing the car to the Item Shop, tanking the market for it.
Now that trading is gone, the Item Shop is the only option. Thankfully, though, you don’t need to spend an ungodly amount of money for it anymore.

The Alpha Boost and Beta Gold Nugget Antenna are two of the rarest items in Rocket League, and for good reason. As their names would suggest, they were only available for Alpha and Beta players. And with trading gone from Rocket League, there’s no longer a way to get these coveted items.
The good news is that as rare as these items are, they’re not really that great looking - at least in my opinion. They’re certainly rare, and if you know, you know. If you don’t know, it won’t be that impressive to see one in the wild.

If you think the alpha and beta items are rare, the White Hat Topper is even rarer still. This sleek white hat is only obtainable from one source: the developers themselves.
That’s because only those who report a repeatable exploit are awarded the White Hat Topper. As the name suggests, the topper is for the white hats of the community.
Every game has exploits, and the black hats are the ones who keep it to themselves to use it. The white hats are here to fix the game for everyone.
Again, like the Alpha Boost and Beta Antenna, there’s no longer any way to get a White Hat Topper except by reporting an exploit.

The Titanium White Dominus, like the Octane, is a rare variant of a popular car. The Dominus, Fennec, and Octane sit at the most popular car models in Rocket League, so the best skins for those cars will obviously be the most desired.
Similarly, the Titanium White Dominus was one of the most expensive Rocket League cars before Epic stepped in and squashed the aftermarket. Now, you just have to refresh your Item Shop and cross your fingers to get one.

The Mainframe decal is one of the rarer and cleaner-looking items in Rocket League. The decal is clean, sleek, and, best of all, rare. You can still get this one in the Item Shop, and -in our opinion - it’s money well spent. You get one of the best-looking decals for one of the best cars in the game.
The mainframe decal pairs even better with the Titanium White Octane body, which is a combo you’ll see a lot of now that both are available for purchase.
