Winning the Arima Kinen race with Haru Urara in Umamusume: Pretty Derby isn’t easy, but it’s not impossible either.
Haru starts off with poor stats and terrible aptitude for Turf and Long Distance races, but if you plan ahead, build the right inheritance, and focus on key skills and stats, you can get her to the finish line.
Image via CygamesHaru Urara starts with G in both Turf and Long Distance, which is about as bad as it gets for Arima Kinen. The race is 2500 meters on turf, so unless you raise both aptitudes to at least C, she won’t stand a chance. This is where inheritance comes in.
You need to build or borrow parents with 3-star Red Factors in Long and Dirt (yes, Dirt counts for Turf aptitude). If you can get a total of 9 stars in each category across parents and grandparents, you have a solid chance of getting to C or even B after inheritance events.
Don’t expect it on your first try, though. Compatibility is an issue too, and Haru doesn’t mix well with a lot of Umamusume, so it may take multiple runs to get the right sparks.
Some players have managed to win Arima Kinen with just D/D aptitude, but that takes very good training and a lot of luck with skill triggers.

To get Haru ready for Arima Kinen, you’ll need to hit some key stat goals. Focus your training mainly on Speed, Stamina, and Power. Guts and Intelligence (Wit) are useful but secondary.
Here’s a good target range to aim for:
Stamina is extra important since Arima Kinen is a long-distance race. Without solid stamina and at least one gold recovery skill, she’ll burn out before the final leg.

For stamina recovery, go for:
Pick at least one of these as gold. A green or silver skill might not be enough.
For speed and acceleration near the finish:
These skills work best for the Final Phase, so make sure they activate near the end of the race. They can make a big difference in whether she closes the gap or stalls out.
Haru does best as a Late Surger. This style saves her stamina for the end and lines up well with her unique skills like Super-Duper Stoked and Super-Duper Climax. Don’t switch her to Front Runner or Leader. She won’t have the raw stats to hold that position in a long race.
Image via CygamesGo with a 3-2-1 build:
Borrow high-level cards if your own deck is weak. Prioritize SSR Super Creek for stamina skills and training boost. SSR Kitasan Black is another strong pick for Speed. Focus on building bond levels early so you can trigger rainbow training sessions later in the run.
If you’re trying to raise Haru’s aptitudes, expect to spend several training cycles just building good parents. You’ll want to stack red factors, maybe even build two generations just to get good sparks. Once you have strong parents and support cards in place, the actual training run still needs good RNG.
Most players need 5 to 10 full runs to win Arima Kinen with Haru. Some get lucky earlier, others may take more. If you’re aiming for a story win or just want to challenge yourself, the effort pays off.
Image via CygamesPlayers have confirmed they’ve won Arima Kinen with as low as D rank in Turf and Long, but only with perfect stat training, good support cards, and the right skills. A few succeeded even on free-to-play setups by borrowing strong cards from friends.
One global server player even completed it using mostly base cards and a borrowed Super Creek. So it’s doable if you plan carefully.
