The Witcher 3 Remastered: Accessibility settings & Bard’s Ballad explained
The Witcher 3 Remastered comes with a bunch of Accessibility settings that let you change some of the more annoying parts of the game without having to completely change how you play.
The biggest addition here is Bard’s Ballad, a preset that bundles several of these options together and makes certain gameplay systems much more relaxed.
What is Bard’s Ballad in The Witcher 3 Remastered?
Bard’s Ballad is an Accessibility preset designed to remove some of the smaller gameplay restrictions in The Witcher 3 Remastered. It does not simply lower the difficulty or make enemies weaker. Instead, it changes several systems that can affect exploration and general gameplay.
The preset includes options such as Infinite Breath, Unlimited Item Durability, Unlimited Boat Durability, Ignore Item Weight, Faster Boats, Toggle Witcher Sense and a Vitality Regeneration Boost.
So, for example, you can explore underwater without worrying about Geralt running out of breath, carry as much loot as you want without becoming overburdened and stop worrying about your weapons and equipment losing durability.
You can select Bard’s Ballad when starting a new game on Just the Story difficulty. If you are already playing, you can find the options by opening Settings and going to Accessibility.
What does Bard’s Ballad change?
The preset turns on seven main settings.
- Toggle Witcher Sense lets you switch Witcher Senses on and off instead of having to keep holding the relevant input.
- Vitality Regeneration Boost is another part of the preset. With Bard’s Ballad, the regeneration activates when Geralt falls below 50 percent Vitality and uses a 50 regeneration multiplier.
- Infinite Breath is probably self-explanatory. Geralt no longer has to worry about running out of breath while underwater.
- Unlimited Item Durability removes the usual durability loss from weapons and equipment.
- Unlimited Boat Durability does something similar for boats. Your boat will not be destroyed because of durability loss.
- Ignore Item Weight removes the normal inventory weight restriction.
- Faster Boats increase boat travel speed.
