7 years following the 1.0 release of the original, Slay The Spire 2 is here in Early Access. Mega Crit is back self-publishing the game and trying to follow up on the insane success of their first title.
How much content is available in this initial Early Access phase, though? Here are how many acts are there in Slay The Spire 2.
There are currently three playable Acts in Slay The Spire 2, much like was the case in the original’s EA phase. Similarly, if you’re familiar with what happened in the original after beating Act 3’s boss, you’ll find something similar at the end of Slay The Spire 2.
All acts follow the same structure they did in the original game. You can choose your route, taking into account which encounters you want to opt for, and you’ll face a boss at the end.
After killing the boss, you move into the next act, healing your entire HP and choosing one of three powerful rewards to aid you on your journey.
From our experience, an average run completing all acts takes between an hour and two. That will change depending on if you’re running solo or in co-op, which is a feature exclusive to Slay The Spire 2.
Completing acts will net you permanent rewards, helping you progress through the new Epoch system, which lets you unlock characters, cards, and relics for your future runs.
Just like in the original, Slay The Spire 2 has a pool with multiple bosses for each Act. So far, we’ve seen at least three different bosses per act, but there might be more.
If you find the game too easy, which you might if, like us, you were addicted to the first game, don’t worry. Ascensions are back, special modifiers to make your runs harder.
Every time you clear Act 3, you unlock a new ascension level. Their effects stack, and affect your runs by, for example, spawning more Elite enemy encounters.
Now that you know how many acts await you in your Slay The Spire 2 runs, good luck. And remember, if you don’t want to venture alone, now you don’t need to, because the newest entry in the series allows you to play co-op up to four players.
