1win defeats 9Pandas in the Eastern European (EEU) Regional Qualifiers to qualify for The International 2024 (TI13) and snags the lone spot reserved for the region at the crown jewel Dota 2 event.
Headquartered in Russia, 1win’s current Dota 2 team was formed in early February 2024 with emerging players from the CIS circuit.
With relative inexperience and nothing but passion, the team heralded by Georgii "swedenstrong" Zainalabidov, formerly of NAVI and PuckChamp, has made tremendous strides on their road to The International (TI).
This is the second Dota 2 team to qualify for The International 2024 (TI13) on its debut, the first being HEROIC, after entering the competitive Dota 2 landscape. 1win had a spectacular run in the upper bracket of the Eastern Europe Regional Qualifiers, winning all four series, including the grand finals against 9Pandas.
They defeated Night Pulse, NAVI and Yellow Submarine before facing 9Pandas in the grand final. Their wins, particularly against NAVI and 9Pandas, are a true testament to their potential, allowing them further to express themselves in the best Dota 2 esports tournament in history – The International 2024.
Facing 9Pandas in the grand final, led by the veteran and multiple Dota 2 Major winner, Alexey “Solo” Berezin, 1win’s task to qualify for TI13 was difficult, especially in the first game of the series, where after a substantial deficit, Solo and co. mounted a comeback on some excellent Tinker plays by Gleb “Kiyotaka” Zyryanov.
A crucial team fight victory ensured 9Pandas took the lead after an 18k deficit and nearly marched towards victory until a second team fight ensued with multiple buybacks on both sides.
This rendered 9Pandas without their cores, except Tinker, and 1win seizing the opportunity to end the game in their favour.
However, the next two games were one-sided as 1win dominated 9Pandas with ease and secured the series win, thus qualifying for The International 2024 (TI13).
The slots for the biggest esports tournament are filling up quickly with the conclusion of the regional qualifiers. The remaining regional qualifiers for TI13; Southeast Asia (SEA) and West Europe (WEU) begin today.
