In the latest of a string of big updates to come to Counter-Strike 2, the update released tonight has brought with it a new group of skins, the Genesis Collection, as well as updated sounds for all the utility in the game.
There's also some little quality of life tweaks involved, as well as a unique way for you to get your hands on those new skins, so let's dive into the update and see what's been added to the game.
Let's start with the skins - the thing that all of the traders will be excited about.
The Genesis Collection features 17 new weapon finishes, which have been selected from community contributors.
Those skins, as opposed to being in a case that you can open like most other skins in the game, will be accessed via a Genesis Uplink Terminal, which can be obtained through weekly drops.
"What's that?" We hear you ask. Haven't the foggiest.
Nah, just kidding, allow us to tell you.
The Genesis Uplink Terminal will connect you to the Arms Dealer, who will attempt to sell you one of the skins in the collection.
Working like a typical case from that point onwards - except for the fact you have to buy the skin within it - you'll have five chances to get a skin from it you actually want in your inventory.
If you like it, you buy it at the price the Arms Dealer offers it to you. If you don't, you pass on it and get to see the next skin up for grabs.
So what are the skins in the case? The two red skins from the drop are the AK-47 Oligarch (which you can see above in the header image) and the M4A4 Full Throttle.
A nice, new green M4 skin, it'll look great in a green themed inventory if you have one.

Other favourites include the AWP Ice Coaled, the Glock-18 Mirror Mosaic, and the MAC-10 Cat Fight.
Our personal favourite, though, is the MP7 Smoking Kills, which you can see below. It's just a shame it's on a rubbish gun.

The utility in the game have all seen their audio overhauled. From equipping them, to pulling pins, to even throwing the grenades, everything now sounds a little different.
Another change to the game that is meant to heighten realism, the flashbang now whistles in the air slightly due to the speed it's thrown at. The incendiary grenade, actually, like the flame, is getting blown by the wind, and you can actually hear the liquid in the molotov slosh around as it gets thrown.
The final significant change is that you can now inspect a player's full loadout mid-game. Well, as long as you've died in a round, that is.
Simply press F while spectating a player, and their inventory will appear above their nameplate.

The patch notes end with a mysterious note, one that just reads: "Various improvements to subtick shooting consistency."
Honestly, we're not quite sure what that means, but any improvements to the game are welcome.
