The Counter-Strike world was rocked when Heroic announced that their talismanic captain cadiaN had been benched, and now they have found his replacement.
At least temporarily, anyway.
Joining from Vitality where he was benched after their win at the BLAST.tv Paris Major, five-time Major winner dupreeh will be standing in for Heroic until the end of the year.
That run will include both BLAST Premier Fall Final and BLAST Premier World Final.
The move to Heroic will mark the first time the legendary entry fragger has played for an all-Danish team since he departed from Astralis at the start of 2022.
One of the most successful players in Counter-Strike history, Dupreeh is the only player to have participated in every CS:GO Major, and thanks to Vitality's victory in Paris, he also became the only player to win five Majors in CS:GO.
Replaced on Vitality by flameZ in June, dupreeh won his first Major way back in 2017 at the ELEAGUE Atlanta Major.
He followed that up with an impressive three-peat at FACEIT London 2018, IEM Katowice 2019, and StarLadder Berlin 2019. He was also part of the Astralis team that became the first-ever winners of the Intel Grand Slam.
dupreeh's addition to Heroic gives them a much-needed tournament-winning experience.
Long touted to be joining the team, the hope will be that he can help overcome some of the struggles that see Heroic often finish as runners-up at events.
Set to play in both Roobet Cup 2023 and the Thunderpick World Championship, we'll have two opportunities to see dupreeh feature for Heroic before he returns to Danish soil as Heroic look to claim victory on home soil at Fall Final.
