Subnautica 2: All Angel Comb Adaptation locations
Angel Comb Adaptations are one of the main progression systems in Subnautica 2. Each one gives your character new survival abilities or access to areas that were previously blocked.
Here are all the currently known Angel Comb Adaptation locations in Subnautica 2 Early Access, along with what each upgrade does and what you need before heading there.

Pressure Tolerance Adaptation
Pressure Tolerance is the first Adaptation you unlock in Subnautica 2. This happens automatically during the opening intro sequence, so you do not need to search for it manually.
The upgrade allows your character to survive the planet’s environment and continue normal exploration.
Since this Adaptation is story related, it cannot be missed.
Digestion Adaptation location
The Digestion Adaptation is usually the first optional Angel Comb upgrade players discover.
From the Lifepod, head north or slightly northeast toward Anita’s Black Box area. The Angel Comb is located around 150 to 180 meters away depending on your path through the biome.
When I reached this section, the wreckage and debris near the Black Box made the location easier to identify. The Angel Comb itself can be interacted with immediately once you find it.
Unlocking the Digestion Adaptation allows you to safely consume local alien food sources that were previously unsafe.
This is a useful early-game upgrade because it makes food management much easier while exploring distant areas.
Heat Tolerance Adaptation location
The Heat Tolerance Adaptation requires more preparation compared to the earlier upgrade.
This Angel Comb is located northwest of the Lifepod inside a dangerous hot biome filled with infected growths. Before the Angel Comb opens, you need to destroy all connected Viral Blooms nearby.
You will need the Sonic Resonator for this area.
During my exploration, the easiest way to clear the puzzle was by following the purple tendrils connected to the Angel Comb. Every infected bloom attached to those tendrils needs to be destroyed first.
Once unlocked, the Heat Tolerance Adaptation allows your character to safely survive inside high-temperature regions that normally deal damage.
This upgrade becomes important for later biome exploration and deeper volcanic zones.
Axum Vision Adaptation location
Axum Vision is currently the furthest Angel Comb Adaptation available in Subnautica 2 Early Access.
The Angel Comb is found far east of the Lifepod near the Alien Base and Power Center areas. This region is significantly deeper and more dangerous than earlier zones.
Before heading there, it helps to already have:
- Tadpole Depth Module.
- Upgraded Sonic Resonator.
- Better oxygen capacity upgrades.
- Extra batteries and healing supplies.
The area contains infected Bloom Clankers that must be cleared before the Angel Comb becomes accessible.
While exploring this biome, I noticed the game naturally pushes players toward deeper alien structures and underground paths. Following those routes eventually leads to the Adaptation area.
After unlocking Axum Vision, you gain the ability to interact with Axum alien technology that previously could not be activated.
This Adaptation also appears connected to future story progression planned during Early Access.
