The base Wood is essential for your entire Witchspire playthrough. You need it for most items and for your entire base building, if you’re doing any. But eventually, the basic stuff just doesn’t cut it.

Here is how to find Finewood and Alderwood in Witchspire, allowing you to craft better Brooms and, of course, better weapons.
There are trees aplenty in Witchspire, but they’re not all equal. You do have multiple varieties of the trees that give Simple Wood, but you’ll find a few that are noticeably bigger than the rest.
They also have a different shade of green and lot more leaves. Here is what they look like:

Obviously, there are less Finewood trees than Simple ones, but there are enough to likely fulfill all your Early Access needs. If you ever find yourself needing Finewood, just fly upwards in your broom and look for the bigger trees.
There is an even rarer tree, the Alderwood. These are the easiest to spot but there are also much less of them to find. Alderwood drops from those magical trees with purple leaves and blueish trunks.
You’ve seen a few of them in your playthrough for sure:

Alderwood trees are few and far between, but you also don’t need that much Alderwood in Witchspire at the moment. As was the case for Finewood, simply fly upwards and look for purple leaves. That’s where you’ll find your Alderwood.
One trick you can use to find more of it is to use your map. Witchspire’s map shows tree colors. While that isn’t useful for Finewood, as that’s just another shade of green, Purple trees stand out immediately. The biggest ones are not farmable, but every other one will be.
Unfortunately, yes, you do. The basic sickle won’t cut it when it comes to these fancier trees. You’ll have to progress through your Luminaries until you find the following node:
You’ll unlock the extremely handy Spirit Logging Sickle. This will not only allow you to farm both Finewood and Alderwood, but it will also give you an entirely new way of farming wood which is amazing.
