Even if you recently started your Borderlands 4 playthrough, you'll have at least bumped into one Golden Chest. They look shiny and yellow, and can only be opened with Golden Keys. The thing is, you cannot get these keys in game, you need to find them through redeeming SHiFT codes.
While not all SHiFT codes contain Golden Keys, they are, currently, the only way to "farm" them. With that in mind, here are Borderlands 4: All Active SHiFT Codes, how they work, and how you can redeem them.
SHiFT Codes are serial keys like the ones you might find for Steam keys or gift cards for Apple Pay. These ones, though, only serve to unlock items inside the various Borderlands titles, with a current focus in Borderlands 4, of course, since it is the most recent release of the franchise.
Inputting them into your game will net you a reward depending on your code. It will usually be one of three things: cosmetics, items, Golden Keys. While cosmetics, as the name implies, do not give you any advantage in the game, the two other reward options can make your character stronger. Items rewarded come at your level (or above it), so they can be upgrades, and Golden Keys open Golden Chests, which feature extremely good rewards, scaled to your Vault Hunter's level.

Regardless of the method you choose, you'll have to sign up to a SHifT account at its official website. Following this, you need to link your SHiFT account to whichever platform your playing the game on. In our case, that is STEAM. Specific codes might also require you to connect to different platforms, like one of the active ones which asks you to link your SHiFT account with a 2K one.
The first method to redeem SHiFT codes can be done without ever leaving the previously linked website. Simply navigate to the rewards tab on the left of your screen after you've linked your accounts, and start pasting the codes into the Code Redemption window. On that same window, you'll be able to check what each code rewarded you with, when you redeemed it, and in which platform the rewards can be found. Certain codes will unlock rewards for multiple games in a variety of platforms.
You can also redeem SHiFT codes inside Borderlands 4 by opening the SHiFT tab in your main menu and heading into the rewards section, which is identical to the one found on the SHiFT website.
SHiFT codes have different availabilities. Certain codes will be redeemable for 48h, while others are expected to be up indefinitely or at least for a few years. Short-term codes like the ones which only last a couple of days can be reliable found through the game's subreddit, or through Gearbox's social media channels. We will not be posting these here as the article would immediately be out of date.
There are already a few codes that will remain available for a while, though, and these ones we will feature below, in a list that we will be frequently updating. So here are all active SHiFT codes in Borderlands 4:
There are two more active SHiFT rewards which we can't link here because they are unique to each user:
